For what it's worth I saw a girl in a summer skirt last year with soft, dark unshaven hair on her legs and I was actually surprised by how pretty and feminine it looked. I'm not quite brave enough myself - I'm not sure how well I'd handle the sort of reaction the OP experienced.
It is a shame that the smooth look has become so much the norm that people are actually offended by 'the natural look'. It might look unhygienic but we all know that it's not, right?
Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all get along without judging women who dare to make their own choices about their own bodies?0 -
The thing is, I'm not a feminist. I'm not trying to make some kind of stand against shaving. I'm not trying to stop other people from shaving if that's what they want to do with THEIR bodies.
My point, which seems to be completely missed, maybe I'm just illiterate and cannot explain things properly....I do not want to personally shave anymore.
I'm more than aware that in this culture, I'm some kind of disgusting oddball.
I'm aware that like 99% of men will not be attracted to me.
I DO NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLES OPINIONS ON THIS SHAVING THING.
What I care about is - while you have the right to think I'm a disgusting sloth for not bothering to groom myself to please your eyes, I also have the right to do what I want with MY body and yes, you can look, yes you can raise your eyebrows, yes you can laugh about me with your friends later....but as a human being, do I not have the right to walk around in my NATURAL state without being mocked so openly to my face and laughed at for 15 minutes...is that not excessive? Just because you don't think I'm not attractive? really?Saved so far - £28,890.97

I'm personally offended by the amount of ugly feet I see on The Tube during summer months. I know people can't help it if they have reupulsive gnarled talons, but they can at least have clean, trimmed nails. I don't point and laugh though, just avert my eyes.
The point of the thread is it's rude to openly mock somebody else's body choice. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
I think this thread has had it's day, clearly OP has an agenda to force down the necks of anyone unlucky enough to hear it, and clearly there are people who's opinion are far more important that anyone else's, no matter what reason or logic will dictate.
Time to lock the thread before it turns into something venomous.
What agenda? I haven't seen one. Where has the OP said that other women should be hirsute? She was complaining about the way she was treated because she doesn't shave, that some morons think it is acceptable to openly mock a person because of the way they look.0 -

You obviously do care about people's opinions because you're upset about people's opinions on here. You're talking a load of waffle.0 -
itchyextremist wrote: »Obviously that's stupid, because the whole shaving thing is about sexuality, and we're not discussing the sexualisation of children, so your argument is totally stupid.
I'm stupid? :rotfl:
So, at what age should a girl start shaving?
If shaving is tied to sexuality does it mean that a female who has body hair isn't a sexual being? I think the OP disproves that.0
