In a more general vein it does slightly shock me that menstruation is still such a taboo subject to the extent that any remotely descriptive discussion about it results in posts being pulled and the threat of threads being locked. I thought we had long gone beyond the days when menstruating women were unclean and had to stay at home locked away from everybody else incase they contaminated anyone else with their filthiness.

I think that the threat of the thread being locked came from one of those who had posts deleted, rather than from MSE itself.


In many ways it's a shame that one of the more detailed posts has been deleted in its entirety, because it did very much demonstrate an attitude that menstruation and other female bodily fluids are unclean.


That attitude - as well as the approach of skipping a discussion on basic hygiene in favour of discussing advanced depilation - certainly bears discussion, and challenge, in my view.
