I don't care how you argue it, its rank!! When Julia Roberts did the under hair armpit thing she lost something in my and many other males eyes forever.....
if we wanted to get in bed with a woolly mammoth we would date a hairy builder......its just wrong on so many levels.....as liberal as everyone who posts on here is, they would never do it to this excess....
tbh i also think men should groom and excessive hair looks bad on them as well.....we are not apes and shouldn't resemble them!
The more hair on a man the better for me. I love men looking like apes.
Having said that I as a female particularly shave under my armpits - the more hair you have under there the more you tend to smell. Unless one is happy to leave it all to nature.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
I'm not sure about the society dictates bit. I don't think many people really mind how other people dress and behave, but they will form an opinion on their own ideas. But that goes with absolutely anything we do. We have to accept that they are allowed to make up their own interpretations too.
Separately from the discussion, if I don't have a shower for a week because I don't want one, that is my right. But I also don't want people to think I smell, and that is my decision too. So no one is telling me to shower, but I do care what they think.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -

I can't see where it is gross at all.
It's a personal decision that should not affect anybody else - apart from maybe someone the OP may have a relationshiup with and she's said he's fine with her not shaving.0 -

This is exactly the thing I have a problem with.
You can think I'm gross. That's fine, it's your opinion and I can handle that. I'm sure I'm now gross to like 90% of the world.
If you want to RESPECTFULLY tell me 'wow your hairy!' I don't mind.
What I do mind is being TOLD what to do - who the hell are YOU to tell ME what to do with my body? Did I invite you to touch me? No I did not. Did I invite you into my bed? No I did not. So what I CHOOSE to do with my own body is MY business.
And it's funny that you mention god because if he didn't intend for me to be hairy, I wouldn't be. So its not for his sake.
I expected when I finally bared my hairyness I'd get some weird looks and raised eyebrows. I'm a pretty confident person so I don't mind those raised eyebrows.
Those guys laughing at me - it's not that I care about their opinion, I don't. But it ridiculously hard to sit there and have people stare at you and laugh at you like a hyena like your a freak, even if you are, you don't really need the reminder...
What I could have done is get up and move to another carriage. Or put my cardigan back on. Or cried because they made me feel like utter crap and less than a human being.
But I sat there and gave them death glares for the entire journey daring them to tell me about myself. Maybe this made them laugh at me even more idk, I don't even care. My point was basically just why be so frickin rude on someone's appearance just because it doesn't fit to your beauty standards?
Would you laugh at someone who had bad facial scarring or something? It also doesn't fit into beauty ideals and while it might not be their fault they can at least try and cover it with makeup to make it easier to look at them?
What about people with missing limbs? Again, not their fault but they can hide it with prosthetics?
Yet people make such a huge deal for some BODY HAIR lol

.
Exactly. People form their own views on people very quickly, and whether those views are right or wrong, it's human nature to judge other people. It's up to you whether you let those views affect you or not.
If you are comfortable in your decision OP, then you're going to have to try and not let it affect you, but also realise, that people will form their own opinions on it.
Whilst I applaud your take on things OP, as I too stopped wearing make up day in day out (just wear it on a night out/special occasion) once I'd realised that actually my skin was ok as it is, the body hair thing to me personally is a whole different ball game.
Whilst I think it was totally wrong for those men to laugh and to make you feel ashamed like that, in my own mind, I too would have formed an opinion. Again, rightly or wrongly that opinion is mine. If I viewed a woman with excess body hair, not only do I think it's unsightly, I also think it looks unhygienic, and would probably think it smelt too. Because as has been said above, the more hair there the more things tend to smell. If I saw unkempt (in my eyes) legs and pits, it would give me an impression of uncleanliness.0 -
I shower every day, it takes literally seconds to keep up to smooth underarms. legs and bikini line. No itching, no stubble. No problem.0
