Don't suppose the OP will be back to the thread but i thought this might help her

  • I am still around but I wasn't posting unless I had something to say. Still slogging on slowly.
  • Hi

I've just read all 21 pages of this. Took a while! I'm not going to get drawn into arguments about whether this thread is genuine or not. I'm just going to assume that it is and make a couple of suggestions:

    1) OP - now that you've managed to pay off a chunk of your debt, would it be worth trying again to get a 0% balance transfer? You might have more luck now

2 ) I know you don't want to tell OH about the extent of the problem. That's your decision, although I have a feeling it could blow up in your face one day. Is there any way that you could suggest to him that you're trying to be more frugal without actually spelling the whole thing out to him? Plenty of families have to reign in their spending every now and again.

    Best of luck anyway!
  • Thanks dfbefore30 for your suggestions

    1) I have tried a couple of cards but have been turned down. I guess keeping trying is not helping my chances of getting a card.

    2) I have suggested being more frugal to OH. He thought were already were being. He doesn't know how much anything costs to buy. I keep cutting back on things and not spending even if I go out. I have managed to walk around a shopping centre and not spend a penny which is good going for me. I know it isn't much but its is better than it was.

I have gone back to doing an old hobby which uses some things up in the house. Keeps me occupied and not spending

Will do another SOA when credit cards statements arrive with new balances on them

I've been watching this thread with interest since the start. I believe the OP definitely has mental health issues and is looking for attention, but I decided not to comment and just watch what happened. However, completely by accident, I've just stumbled across the previous thread mentioned by asparagus1968 and whiteguineapig which I'm certain confirms the suspicions of those who've said all the way along that there's something not-quite-right about the OP and this situation.

The SOAs, language and situation are so similar it would be highly improbable if these are two completely separate individuals.

OP - you need help. If you actually do have a SO or family around you, please speak to them and get help. You're obviously depressed and desperately seeking attention. You may have actual money worries too, if both the SoAs are accurate, but I think that might be the least of your problems right now...

if you look through all the posts by them it is similar stuff (and so sad if its true, and also sad if it isn't)

There's also been at least one name change at some point from "struggling to cope" to "BMG". Definitely the same person though and looking at their posting history, this 'debt problem' seems to recur every few months. But then a mysterious benefactor manages to clear their debt off before it spirals out of control once more! Hmmmmmm!

Even more disturbing is that she claims her OH died in March 2014

  • Obvious bait thread is obvious
  • I always thought this wasn't real, but reading the other related threads is quite chilling. That there was a death in there that one user had actually anticipated would happen.

I see also the common theme that as well as commanding attention it causes division amongst the other forum users. I asked weeks ago whether we were being trolled and felt bad for voicing it and it put me off posting on the forum. This kind of stuff does cause major discord and detracts from the purpose of the forum. And the trouble is, when you do "out" people for doing this, they don't stop - they just go and do it elsewhere to someone else.

    :(

Haven't been back here for some while.

In agreement with recent posts above....and with all the 'However's, voiced at times by self and others who feel any helpful posts, even signature info. may be useful to some chance reader in need of help.

That is why Martin began mse.
How did I come here? I was a chance listener, who traced a polemic voiced on Woman's Hour - a rather frenetic rant, Martin:-), highlighting SayNoTo0870.

For me, this came in the hideous aftermath of a suicide.

Those who do care will always care, even when no longer caring becomes the only right thing - and then we do that. Out of sight is not out of mind.
