I think those that are frustrated with this OP need to leave it alone. You can't help everyone, and some people arent willing to sacrifice to get ahead.

They will continually believe they are getting ahead making penny savings while throwing away pounds. But it's up to them. This is just an advice forum, they dont need to take the advice, and you dont need to listen to them complain.

On the plus side, my link to Mr Money Moustache has got me all fired up again as I've realised I have been far too slack myself. I owe people money yet I think it's OK to buy myself stuff I don't need. I am clearly crazy :D. Will be writing out some new goals on my own diary.

If you start trying to correct everyone's grammar, punctuation and spelling on this board, you will drive yourself mad.

Supermarket shop yesterday was lower than in the past £33.11 which is a lot better than the £100 we used to spend.

Transferred £1450 to Natwest card as they had sent an offer of 7.9% with no transfer fee and I had room to move part of balance from Santander card. This will make the interest less each month

Just read meters and we owe £4 which will be covered when DD goes through tomorrow.

DD gone through for Tesco card and so I owe £1220 on there now after large payment this month

I know these amounts aren't massive but I am slowly moving the balances down on the CC,s and not going out spending on them

I love the food shop at Aldi, We can feed 2 adults for around £20 per week including lunches and dinner. I love their cheapest baked beans too. I imagine a comparative shop at Te$c0 would be at least 3 times as high.

When I go food shopping, I always tot up the price as I go along and have a maximum spend in mind, this stops us from filling up the trolley with fancy cheese and sliced meats!

Just a thought OP - you mentioned your husband had a year's salary in the bank in case of a lean times at work.

You also mention in your first post that some of this is his or at least joint debt.

Perhaps you could consider using some savings to pay off a portion of the debt. This would save some interest.

I totally appreciate the importance of an emergency fund but is a year without any work a likely scenario? I would argue that you are currently facing a debt emergency.

There is no reason for oh to know.

Isn't there? Partnership, managing life together and all that?

It's up to you but I'd be livid and horrified if my husband kept this from me. We're a team!

I have to agree with ViolaLass, your husband may be very hurt and livid when he finds out (which he will).
Maybe you're not crediting him enough, he may be devastated that you've been going through this alone and you may find his support is refreshing and therefore makes the challenge less daunting.

I can imagine the only reason you are reluctant to tell him is through fear but it's never as bad as you imagine. Try him, at least give him a chance to help you.
