We booked our first full family holiday with Teletext to Greece in January for over £6000, during this time a pandemic started and the main leader was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer. We were due to fly to Greece on 4.8.20. 5 days before we are due to go you cancel our holiday and offer us a credit note for next summer which we decline due to the fact the main party lead is unlikely to be alive then and due to this change in personal circumstances we needed the cash money now to book a holiday before she gets to ill to fly and make memories with her as next year it is unlikely the main party leader will be here and no one would want to go on that holiday without her. I also have the added pressure of going back to work in September as I am a teacher and would need to go away asap. This was going to be our first and last ever whole family holiday together and now I’m back to work and can’t go away with her before she’s too ill. You were informed of all of this and how much the money was needed but just replied with the same response a voucher for a holiday next year. Now we have missed out on a last family holiday with her abroad you have stolen those lost memories from our family.
You do not take into account personal circumstances, you are insensitive and heartless to offer a holiday next year to someone dying of lung cancer whose family can’t use that money to enjoy what time she has left because you won’t release it. You refuse to deal with other party members only the main booking leader who is dying of cancer causing her extra stress and anxiety. You broke the law by not following the Package Holiday regulations and as a company you should be held accountable. We have sent emails weekly with either no reply’s or offering a holiday next year which is not acceptable. You responded to a complaint on the trust pilot website with please be patient which we have no choice in as you do nothing to resolve the issue and now it’s too late you will never be able to return what you have taken from my family this last summer holiday together with no money has left us making memories in our front rooms with no money to even do day trips. Absolutely disgraceful. By the time we get refunded the money it will be needed for a funeral if we even get it by then.

We arrived back from are holiday in February from The Maldives with a number of complaints and issues and have been in touch with teletext but kept being pass from one person to another with no results I’ve even sent a written letter to the head office but only recently found out there is a different address and now today I’ve just written another letter to Teletext to see if I get a reply as this is becoming absolutely ridiculous if this doesn’t work I don’t know what to do can anyone suggest anything

They are not a member of ABTA so you can't use their arbitration scheme but they are members of the Travel Trust Association. There are very mixed reviews about their complaints procedure but the contact points are

I need advice, my daughter called to book holiday through Teletext holidays. At the end of the conversation when the customer service representative had taken the money she was told that the flights were not available. She immediately said that she could not change the flights and asked to cancel. She has called TH twice and been told that the refund would be sent the following day. She has now called a call centre abroad who has said she must wait 90 days which she cannot afford to wait. The customer service person said flights were subject to availability but took the money without telling her. Very shady way to deal with their customers. She is single parent and had been saving for this break. Continually put the phone down when you call and it takes 45 mins to hour to get through.No terns and conditions were sent to confirm 90 day period for refund. Any help appreciated. I have checked small claims court already which I will pursue if they refuse to refund. Sorry to see so many people being treated in this manner. Appalling !!0 -

With luck it might just be a “hold” on the funds which will be released and drop off the cc account in a day or so anyway. These operations seem to make a provisional hold on funds while they source the flights but if not available at the original price the booking is not confirmed and the hold on the amount is released.0 -
IMPORTANT REVIEW.... PLEASE READ - firstly... I give ZERO starsSecondly - I have a very long story but I will keep this very short in terms of a review. I have had 1.5 years of HELL with this company.1. Lied to me and pressurised me into making a booking very late at night.2. Wouldnt allow me to cancel 10 mins after booking and then Ignored me for months after lots of emails/phone calls to speak to a manager requesting my money back.3. Ignored every letter I sent to them special delivery as advised by CAB.4. I paid to take them to a small claims court after they never responded to any letter5. They wasn't willing to negotiate during mediation once court made them reply.6. I continued with court proceedings and paid extra fees to take this all the way.7. I won my case and they had to pay me back! Including all my fees.This looks short and sweet above but my god this was one of the most stressful times of my life.It is definately worth the hassle of going all the way to court with this disgustingly poor company if you are owed money from them or they are breaking your consumer rights. You are protected by the law!I will add - The court case had to be moved to another date as teletext couldn't even get their evidence into court on time as per the order ( I even said to the judge... this is exactly the reason we are here - lack of communication!)They deserve to be shut down immediately. Mentally tourchering me and scaremongering me for months and months was on another level.I am glad this is all over and this is the last time I will even look at their name ever again!!PLEASE PLEASE never book with this company. I know they are cheap for people who struggle to go on holiday as a family etc but I ask you to try and find the extra money to book with another company. One thing I have taken from this whole experience is to actually pay more for aftercare service. I can guarantee to you if any part of your experience with teletext goes wrong you are totally screwed! The customer service behind them is utterly shocking and I would never want anyone to go through what I have been through.Good riddance to you teletext. Hopefully someone somewhere will shut you down sooner rather that later. The more people I can inform about your disgusting behaviour the better. You should be ashamed of yourself!!-1

A good lesson for anyone is to research who they are planning to give their money to first. Teletext have had 1000's of complaints going back many years. Their Trustpilot reviews alone should be enough to scare anyone away.
Teletext are not the only poor third party around...there are many of them so research is key...I suspect many people will only see your warning when they have an issue and come to the forum and find all the warnings that are already on the thread.
Well done on your winning your case but think of the time and stress that 5 minutes research could have saved.0 -
I agree, Caz.On Tripadvisor there are lots of valid complaints about various companies and airlines, with exhortations not to use company A, B, C, X, Y, Z.But they learned the hard way (as did NicolaDins) and there will always be people who book flights & holidays without doing their research and then post to advise other people not to do the same as they did.That's why these companies are still in business. And will continue in business until people wise up, do their research and stop using them. Before giving them their money.If I had to guess, NicolaDins saw a holiday, rang Teletext and was told that the holiday wasn't available but was offered an alternative (which was more expensive than the one she originally rang about).And was told she had a limited time to make her mind up.I'd like to ask Nicola why she changed her mind and wanted her money back 10 minutes after booking.0
