Hi
Just to say i have just experienced the teletext Holiday mayhem and am now awaiting refund but I can see why there are so many complaints .0 -
Hi
When booking my holiday the sales rep was trying to sell me the honeymoon suit which I declined 3 times but at a additional £80 cost from the sea view room which I excepted. Upon arrival we were given a side room with no sea view and outside was the service entrance for all the lorries. After complaining the manager told us to come back in the morning to which we did to be told there were no other rooms available until 3 days later. So we were sold a holiday with a standard twin room with no sea view from your sales rep which you should have the transcript, I have taken pictures and video of the room and view. Everyday we went to reception to which we were turned away until day 4 were they got us a sea view room which was then given to another couple. I'm outraged by the way we were treated and the sub standard hotel conditions, as I refused to leave reception until this was resolved, they gave us a sea view room which was a disgrace, it was totally dirty and unsafe, the wall paper was peeling off, the ceiling was falling to pieces, there were ants everywhere, the skirting was black, the glass was disgustingly dirty and never cleaned, the shower socket wires were exposed showing the wiring in the shower, this is not a 5 star hotel or room. When we're in the new room the electrics tripped out to which we had no power and told not to use certain sockets, absolutely disgraceful on not being offered a room. I have taken videos and pictures of all the issues. Another issue was that our outward flight was delayed by 2 hours which I'm entitled too compensation but I want a full refund due to the following issues.
I was miss sold a holiday which included the honeymoon suite for a extra cost
The flight was delayed by 2 hours
The hotel was not 5 star standard -pics & video
The room was a standard twin and not the honeymoon suite not alone a seat view -pics & videos
All the outside sun loungers were broken - pics
Shower unsafe with exposed wiring -pics & video
I found the reception manager rude and un helpful and just laughed at the situation and responded 'do you want me to cry'we found another couple were having a argument with the same manager as they had taken all the suitcases and passports etc out of there room and moved them out without them knowing to another room
This whole holiday has been a a disaster and I want a full refund as this was miss sold to me especially the honeymoon suite, after searching the net it seems teletext holidays had used this ploy to increase sales which many people have complained about
This has left my partner and I very distressed and I will make this a legal matter as I have all the information pics and videos to support this
I will wait 48 hours for a response until processing proceedings
My booking reference is TT5829090 -
a flight needs to be delayed over 3 hours to qualify for compensation from the airline (together with being delayed due to something within their control) so no compensation there
hotel ratings can vary significantly by country. There will be official ratings that are often linked to facilities provided (eg 24 hour manned reception, room service, room size) rather than luxury
which country were you visiting?
Did you contact Teletext whilst away? did you investigate moving hotels?0 -
Your Teletext paperwork would likely have had the name and contact details of the local agent or the bedbank supplier of the hotel room. You really should have tried to call them and to ask for resolution. I fear not contacting them may have weakened your position.
Quite possible that this is a hotel issue. They may have overbooked the room category you thought you booked. Your report of the hotel manager’s attitude does not sound very good at all.
As Caz3121 points out, nothing due to you regarding the flight delay. I would be inclined to leave that out of any complaint to Teletext.
Teletext may take on board and address your complaint. They may however just refer you to the hotelier or the supplier of the hotel room. If you read through your paperwork you will see that you will have been made aware of your supply agreement being made with separate entities rather than Teletext. Had you booked with a traditional tour operator like TUI or Thomas Cook your rights would have been clearly laid out and your complaint with the tour operator to investigate and resolve. Teletext and other online sellers are acting just as agents. When things go wrong or you have a complaint they often will not want to know. One of the down sides of those cheap deals!
Start with a factual, concisely written complaint to Teletext. I have to however caution your expectations.
For the benefit of others it might be an idea to name the hotel so they are warned.
You will not get a refund on your holiday.0 -
I I’m having a similar issue with this company..
We need to make a online petition and potentially take legal action or inform the governing body of the tactics and the way they conduct business.
I am absolutely speechless as to the way I have been treated.

People have choices and using 10 minutes research would find enough complaints about teletext holidays to give them a wide berth. (complaints go back years - this is not new)
The company would then need to up its game and provide a better service or close up shop. Currently there is no incentive to improve operations as they still attract lots of customers willing to give them money to keep them going.0 -

Hi Guys,
My wife and I booked a holiday with Teletext 1hr ago. We were told on the phone by "Layton" that he has managed to secure us a great deal in the costa brava and that we had to book over the phone with him to secure the price then as it was a cancellation and live on all networks. Excited by this, we took a punt and booked with him paying over £900. I then went onto various review sites and was shocked at the terrible reviews the hotel had. Cockroaches, bed bugs, poor hygienic rooms. Shocked by this, we called straight back asking to cancel or move hotels but were told (and quite rudely) We were going to lose all of our money as we fly out within 33days. There was nothing they could do within 1hr of booking?? This feels like mis-seling and extreme harsh. Any help on what to do would be very much appreciated guys.0 -

I think we can all spot the error in this.0 -
A classic case of a sales person ‘upselling’ after the punter has been lured in after searching for a cheap deal.
Sorry that they caught you. Checking hotel and company reviews is best done before you commit and pay your money.0
