Strange that Teletext never leave a name on here, just a standard auto reply which I suspect is set up in house to reply on the same lines to all complaint forums, which they scan on a regular basis to try and make themselves appear concerned, or have I become too cynical in my old age?

Thank you for alerting us to teletext,s terrible service. I have been looking for a cheap one week get away in the sun in October and had given them a look over but will go elsewhere now.

I used Teletext Holidays over the New year break to Malta.
The accommodation was not suitable for a family with two kids under 4. It was not three star as discussed at time of booking. There was no heating for two nights and after being in touch with Teletext and the Hotel on many occasions, we were forced to go to another hotel down the road so that we were warm and safe.
The hotel and Teletext are now not responding to emails or telephone calls in order to sort this mess.
I fortunately have call recordings of agents telling us to book new hotel and claim on return to UK.
It has now been 3 months since our return and not only are we out of pocket but had a terrible New Year and birthday for hubby :(

So as I understand your post you had been corresponding with Teletext but have come to an impasse? What has been offered so far in terms of recompense for the situation?

When you moved to another hotel was the cost 'reasonable'? Did you talk to Teletext at the time to indicate the cost of the move? What are you seeking from them now to settle this matter?

Three stars hotels during winter in Malta are normally very reasonably priced and hopefully this was reflected in the overall cost of your holiday. That said you should expect a reasonable quality and lack of heating when you had children in the party, assuming the hotel could not provide a heating solution or rectify the situation in a timely manner, would perhaps be sufficiently good reason to seek new accommodation. If you moved yourself into a 4 or 5 star hotel at a vastly different cost I could understand why perhaps they are not willing to recompense you. Also (not saying that you have but I have seen it on here before) - if you are asking for a full refund.

I think we need more details to give a suggestions on your next steps.

I was in touch with Hotel and Teletext as soon as problem was noticed ie first night!
I have phone recordings with Teletext agents suggesting we book another hotel and then claim refund when back in UK.
I want the money paid to Hotel that didn't provide suitable accommodation, to be refunded.
And some compensation for all the upset caused.
But there has been no suggestion of any refund of monies or ex gratia payment etc
Still investigating with Suppliers after 3 and half months!
They said it could take up to 6 months!
    Arrrrggghhhh!

I don't want to defend teletext as they are appalling but star ratings are not to be taken at face value-I never believe a star rating but only go by the reviews. What did the other reviews say?

We didn't research hotel ratings and reviews as we made the booking over the phone.
We just trusted Teletext. It was a last minute deal.
    Lesson learnt.
