While i was on my holiday i picked my self up a bargain a Tefal Raclette for just £8 ish though it is a slightly more basic model but on the special money off like that i fell in love and OH was treating me so i was not going to so no lol.
Does anyone else have one and if so what else do you use them for other than cheese?
Trying to be OS friendly i want to make it useful so last night i did the kids a treat for dessert and made pancakes on it and let them put there own toppings after on worked a treat, perfect sizes and they loved the novelty and i did not have to have 4 pans on at one time trying to do it.
Just wondered if anyone had any other suggestions?

Had another idea now french toast or eggy bread what ever you prefer to call it.
Think i will let the kids use shape cutters on the bread in the morning and then i will cook them in to eggy bread while they watch they will love that for breakfastStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

hmmm.... we used ours to eat up savoury left overs before going away last week - we had tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, veggie meatballs, salami, olives and feta and edam cheese in the fridge...oiled the top with a spot of olive oil, then bunged bits on it as we fancied.. onions first, cheese last just to warm IYSWIM, and ate it with crusty bread!
It was delicious!!! (but a bit like an indoor barbeque!):beer:0 -

We have one and my son loves it.
We get a french stick and cut it into 1/2 inch slices. You grill them underneath and then top with cheese, ham, salami, baby tomatoes or anything. On the top we stuck small bits of bacon & mini sausages. We have also used prawns and even mince made into tiny flat meatballs. Delicious.
Then you can have slices of pineapple on the top for pud!0 -
I have had one for simply years after a French friend gave it to me as a housewarming gift, knowing how much I had enjoyed eating a la Raclette at her house. Like foreign correspondent, we bung just about anything on it - it is indeed just like using a barbeque except indoors and without the smoke!
My favourite is to slice cold boiled potatoes, lay a slice of ham, sausage or similar over and then top with grated/sliced cheese. Two minutes to warm through then tip out onto your plate, reload your own little raclette dish, and tuck in.
It's a great icebreaker at supper parties - by the time people have got the hang of it, there is much laughter and hands reaching all over the table for this titbit or another - no possibility of not just getting stuck in. Lay the table with bowls of this that and the other and just make up your own concoction, in the same way that pizza toppings can be whatever you happen to have available.
My grandchildren love it to come out for supper on cold, wet, dreary winter afternoons - instead of just sitting down to eat, the whole thing turns into a hoot. For those new to or thinking of getting one, I hope you have as much fun using it as we have had.0 -
Ooh.. I have raclette friends!!!:D
I have had mine for 15 years and I love it. Do all sorts on mine, similar to above but you know it's great to have and share with the kids - we all do our own thing and it's a lot of fun!!!
Sounds like they have come down in price - go grab one and enjoy!!!:dance:Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear. Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will. :dance:0
