Do you have a raclette?

Well I got one off Ebay after reading this thread and my deli does the raclette cheese so I'm off there later today.
I'm also going to get frankfurters for the kids, mushrooms, tomatoes, steak and bacon - No worries - side salads all round but none of us are great veggie eaters so this is perfect - gets kids more involved and less washing up - LOLNoli nothis permittere te terere

Mine arrived today and it's enormous! I'm really going to have to have a think about where to keep it.
I probably won't get the chance to use it until the weekend but when the kids saw it they all said that they can't wait, so it should be fun!

How did you get on with your raclettes Pink-Winged and lil-me?
I'm in the process of pricing them up, I really want one that's as small and compact as possible (space issue) it would need to fit into a normal kitchen cupboard?? would it fit? a 6 person one would be fine and ideally a stone top.0 -
Hi Diamonds,
We love ours and have had quite a few fun meals with it. My only bugbear is that the non stick one can be pain to clean, I have now learned to soak the griddle in a washing powder solution before attempting to wash it. Because of this, if I was to buy it again, I think I'd go for the stone option.
I have some pics of ours in use...I'll have a look for them and if I can find them I'll post them later.

I would love to see some pics, thanks.
Thanks for the tip about the cleaning.. I always soak the roast tin in bio washing powder to shift stuck on food so I guess it's the same kinda thing. I would love a stone one but it's the money.. although I think there's one for £60 on Amazon (stone top) so I might save up for that... link for this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Severin-Party-Pan-Raclette-Stone/dp/B0001WIK5E/ref=pd_bbs_sr_6/203-4434524-1016747?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1192620780&sr=8-60 -
sorry bit late to this thread we have one that OH bought whilst working in Gemany, have had lots of use out of it, great for parties. We cook fried eggs, bacon, minute steak on the top as well as all the usual cold meat, potatoes, veggies and use any cheese. Also the potatoes are nice "fried" on the top, I could go one forever. In fact mine is so well used i might need to invest in a new one soon!!0

Hi there
I got mine when in germany last time...it worked out at £7 and we love it.. It came out last new year too..as well as a buffet we had that on the worktop and folks loved it... i use fillet steak, chicken strips, asparagus, mushrooms, babycorns amongst other things ... And you have to do slices of Halloumi cheese on the top bit.... the best way to clean is i have found is to do it whilst still warm-its a doddle... my neice also put marshmallows, sliced banana in the small trays and choc dots too.
I also got a "party grill" its pretty much the same but you can take it outside as it has those fuel burners..and it also has a cloche/dome too so you can cook things slower..it was ony about a £5 :j ..but it hasn't been out to play yet ..its a big one too...really must give it a go-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
We had one growing up and it was fab! The only down side is that they cheese is expensive if you buy the proper french stuff.... Its a nice family thing as everyone can have what they want and its fun. We had a 8 person set and I dont remember the cleaning of it being difficult, you just had to wash the little trays.
Hope alls well,
