I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

If you're getting married at Disney, give her the role of 'Fairy Godmother' and ask her to wear a dress in the same colour as your bridesmaids but a darker shade, with her duties being to supervise any flower girls and other kids down the aisle

We're Scottish so it might be a Scottish thing that the bridesmaid and best man do it? Also when I signed my sisters thing there was only space for 2 witnesses and the registry office had already printed the names and addresses of their witnesses in the box as well as the name of the rabbi.
My whole plan was to marry abroad to avoid the big wedding and the masses of drama but as always my sister has managed to turn it into a circus, she actually brought it up visiting our elderly great aunt with terminal cancer today - I mean really she won't even be at the wedding she has weeks to live and isn't here to choose a side!
The entire wedding, flights and accommodation is being paid between my parents and his parents so my sister has nothing to save for, that's just the done thing in our traditions.
I told her today that I want younger sister and it's not negotiable, that she won't be "in" the wedding she will be "at" the wedding, it's time she stepped aside and let her kids have a turn at being in a wedding party. I explained its a small wedding, small venue and if I caved to what everyone wants then I won't have any guests.
She seemed to take it well as I explained we won't have a top table at our reception and it's "sit where you like" as I can't be bothered spending 4 years on a table plan. There is signatures required on our wedding licence - just one!

Congratulations on not giving in to her demands. I hope you have a wonderful wedding in just the way that you and your husband want.0

Yes, but I can't remember if I did or not. I think I did, I might be able to name a couple of people who came, but honestly no idea beyond that. Definitely didn't invite [STRIKE]every[/STRIKE]anyone from work. :eek:Torry_Quine wrote: »If you have a few drinks with friends that's a hen night and what it always used to be.
It's a long time ago. It definitely wasn't our mothers, because I wasn't sure if mine was coming or not and she hadn't spoken to me since we got engaged. I'm fairly sure it was our fathers because there wasn't a bridesmaid or best man to ask (DH was insulted at the thought that he'd be unable to get himself there, with the ring in his pocket, without assistance).Torry_Quine wrote: »Surely you can remember who the witnesses were.:o
Oh yes, this I DO remember! Not sure about the names of the witnesses, but our minister had pre-completed the form with OUR names (which he had already said he wasn't supposed to do, in case one of us didn't turn up), and as I went to sign I hissed at him "You've spelled my name wrong AGAIN!" "Don't worry," he said, "I won't do it again, will I?"Torry_Quine wrote: »You just reminded me that the names of the witnesses were pre-printed
He corrected it, changing an e to an i.Signature removed for peace of mind0
