I have just done this over the phone, I was told the PLUS will be removed from my account thereby meaning I now have just a CLASSIC account, this can take 24 hours, then I will be able to open a CLASSIC PLUS account. Fingers crossed.

    .
Just been in to do that and a very quick non-sales meeting all done in 10 minutes my account should be back to a Classic account in 16 hours so I'm told

Just logged in to my account and the PLUS has been removed, it is now just the CLASSIC.

    ETA:
Set up a new PLUS account and it is up and running, switch set in place to complete 23-06-15.

What do the switching T&Cs say?

No and yes, in that order.

But the way they read to me you could register them in September...or December...or even next year! (although I wouldn't recommend it)

    Here's a direct link to the T&Cs...

    http://www.tsb.co.uk/legal/special-offer-mse-msm-terms-and-conditions.pdf

Now having read them, do you concur with my analysis?

    I don't.

Reading the T&C's the wording "c. Credit at least £500 to your new TSB account within 30 days of the switch completing and register a minimum of 2 active Direct Debits " means after switch completing not during.

    How to apply

    1. This offer is available if you open a new TSB Classic Plus Account through MoneySupermarket or Money Saving Expert between the 8 June and 28 June 2015. TSB have the right to withdraw, alter or replace the offer at any time.

    Eligibility

    3. To qualify for the offer you must:
    a. Switch to TSB using the Current Account Switch Service by the 28 July 2015
    b. Transfer all active credits and debits from your old account and close it
    c. Credit at least £500 to your new TSB account within 30 days of the switch completing and register a minimum of 2 active Direct Debits

My bold, my interpretation is you have to open the account between 8th & 28th June, then credit £500.00 and register a minimum of 2 DD's within 30 days of the switch completing, therefore if you do the DD's as part of the switch they won't count, same as if you use £500.00 as part of the switch credit, they have to be done "within 30 days of COMPLETING the switch.

I will be waiting until the day after the switch to credit £500.00 and register the 2 DD's.

I did say I wouldn't take it to such an extreme as to register the DDs so late. ;)

But if they wanted the DDs "registered" within 30 days of the switch completing they'd have phrased the condition as follows...

"Credit at least £500 to your new TSB account and register a minimum of 2 active Direct Debits within 30 days of the switch completing"

    ...wouldn't they?

Anyway we'll see what happens because the DDIs will be sat with TSB around 3-4 days before the switch completes. And I'm very confident of payment. :)

You'd have thought so. All other incentive-payers are happy with - or even insist on - two DDs being transferred with the donor account and that's what I was planning to do.

As we use Tesco savings for offers such as these, I didn't want to mess them around by putting a couple of DDs on a donor account and then almost immediately have them re-create them on another account following CASS completion. Plus this way we complete sooner...and therefore get paid sooner. :)

Possibly over cautious, but having read of Tesco closing accounts I didn't want to put my head above the parapet unless absolutely necessary.

Yes you did but mentioning September onwards which would fall out of the 30 day window anyway

Playing semantics with the wording doesn't help if TSB do the same, surely it is worth playing safe for the sake of a couple of days until the switch completes, after all you have to before crediting the £500.00.

We will have to agree to disagree, I hope you are right and you get the £100.00 without having to contact them, but as I said, I will set them up the day after the switch completes along with the £500.00 credit.:)

I spoke to Tesco a couple of weeks ago when a DD was rejected by the Nationwide, ( it was a long standing one and there was no reason for rejection), the guy I spoke to saw I had a lot of low £ DD's and asked if I was doing it for the DD requirements of other banks to receive interest on those accounts, I confessed I was and he said there was nothing in Tesco T&Cs to stop this and basically said "carry on".
