Ahhh man that sucks that the pressure is there to keep doing the extra shifts. Would it help to have ‘family stuff’ to do when they ask.

I always find that if you say you have prior engagements people ask less! Bit naughty I know :s

Job situation is still in limbo; some people have taken voluntary redundancy in other departments and left, other departments have had theirs paused whilst they look at what else they can do. Our department hasn’t yet been impacted so it’s just a waiting game. I am hopeful for VR as even if I don’t do travel work I think changing companies will do me the world of good and get me out there more. Gf does the same role and she’s hoping to stay, as with her medical needs the company are very accommodating with a very very good sickness policy! Thanks for asking :)
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

Another one here who thinks "I would love to help out but already have a family committment I really must attend" would be a good phrase to pop in at times like this :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

I also used to say "I'm sorry, I arrange all my medical and other appointments on my non-working day - I would need to try and change it if you need me to work" and then say I could not change it if they pressed again (exceptionally - like you I was a soft touch!)

  • Thanks KK, Watty1 and SL,that is a great idea, only trouble is the amount of times they ask, which is nearly daily  got in on Monday to an
e mail stating - there is a shift going tonight - anyone interested ?
    My reaction - :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    Good Luck with that one.

I'm off today, so going to have hair done and then maybe some shopping :D
but purse is empty :( good news is, since I got paid 12 days ago I haven't
touched it yet :j use card for shopping which came in under £20 - I'm liking this :)

  • Hope you have a great day off. Just stay strong re: extra shifts. You'll soon get used to the extra free time and wonder how you ever had time to work full time. I am finally getting time to do the "health adulting" things I should do ( dentist, doctors etc). Bit rubbish when working full time reduces your chances to look after yourself.

Enjoy shopping ( even if window!!)

    Bexster :)
  • Hi Bexster

Back from your holidays I see, how was it?

Know what you mean by looking after yourself, today I have hair dye and cut planned,
(thinking about dentist ) then still have to get new specs, but I always have troublechoosing.

Have a few things in mind and need to buy a birthday pressie and also a 1 year old pressie,
so will look out for something "collectable" as I am sure like everyone these days, does not
    want for anything.

And today is a good day - I received my Mortgage Free Glee Badge :j

  • Hello AFK

Had a great holiday, weather was beautiful -except for Friday. Bit of work this week, then back to normal next week. Not complaining, " normal" only means about 50% of full time doing paid work. I was at the dentist on Monday, with a return visit booked in two weeks time :o

 for mortgage free badge. Hope work isn't too bad.

    Bexster :)
  • Morning All,

Bexster, glad you had a great holiday and weather was good to you, very hard to judge the weather now.
So everything back to normal this coming week for you, hope all goes well.

Another very busy day ahead for me, and went food shopping again last night which brings my total
for Sept to under £40 - good for me, so far, so good. :)

Might visit a very large store that opened just a few days ago which is very near to me, will see how
    things go.

Just listing a couple of things on the bay, got a few[STRIKE] things[/STRIKE] treasures to disappear hopefully, then onto the usual mundane tasks of the weekend, washing, ironing, cut grass, etc, etc

    Have a lovely weekend all.

  • Morning (just) All,

not been on here in a while, as my beloved Chromebook has given me its final warning :naughty::(:(I have had my last update, so no more security  which is making me rush out to buy another,
and I am trying to get a similar one but browsing the options that are out there just now.

It will still work though - for now.

Not a lot happening, other than work keeping me another month till I start my new hours, which
has honestly lost its sparkle now - as I have waited so long.

Off to a lovely 1st birthday party later on, and a bit of travel involved over water. Weather here
been shocking - 2 mornings last week we had hard frost - brrrrrr.

Off to a show tomorrow night - and had a bit of a "to do" with the tickets - outcome is I need to pick
them up at the booking office - I always think - what if they are not there  anyway a bit of an
inconvenience having to go an hour earlier. Should be good once settled into seats :)

Worked 5 days last week - 1st in ages, and guess what - took unwell with about 2 hours to go. I told them I can't work 5 days (they are not listening !!!) - I've no idea what to do about it, apart from phoning in sick a day a week, until I start my new hours - which is not a solution  or option I would be happy with. Anyone any ideas . . . ??

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

    Hi AFK

I'm afraid if they won't listen, then you have just found your solution. Not ideal, but better than the alternative. Putting it off another month is unfair and unlikely justified.

The shine will return as soon as you start the new hours

    Have fun at the show

    Bexster :)
