I finally have good news to share :j

I am about to turn my working life around.

Have managed to reduce my working week from 37.5 hours over 5 days
to 19 hours over 2 days (it's a start, anyway) so will see how that goes.

Lucky enough ( ) to work in a sector that needs weekend cover as well
    as Mon-Fri ;)

Need to see that bottom line on payslip before I say anything else :silenced: although
I have been calculating and double checking every figure possible in the hope
I have not made any huge error in my calculations  or I will be in trouble :o

Won't start until a couple months though, so again, I have to be patient

Cannot actually believe it will all be happening, less than 8 years ago, I bought
a house, paid for it and now reducing my working week, how life can change in
a short space of time, one step at a time for me

Would like to give a "Special Thanks" to Bexster my special friend :happyhear who
encouraged me to reduce my working week and has been with me from my
very 1st posting here on MFW. :A

Hurrah! I didn't want to message you in case there was bad/no news!!

I am thrilled for you! Mind you, 19 hours over 2 days will be quite a feat! Just think, you will have loads of time to start getting your C*****mas sorted out! In terms of payslip, don't forget you'll pay less (? No?) tax which makes a big difference. I also have more time to search out bargains, meal plan and cook from scratch. Cheaper commuting costs, fewer work clothes needed, fewer lunches to prep for away from home. The winter will be the best time to start this, imagine getting to roll over on cold dark mornings and go back to sleep.

You are very kind, but I've very much enjoyed the adventure. Here's to the next 8 years!!

    Bexster :)

    Thank you Bexster

The way I look at it, is it is just 2 normal days, 1 being a long day, so should be all right,
plus a lot less hassle :)

Will post later as rushing to go to work  that will soon stop :D.

Hope you have a lovely holiday/break and be refreshed for the start of the new term :)

Thank you. Off tomorrow. If I miss anything, I'll catch up when I return. Will have my iPad for reading/listening to books so may sneak a peek.

    Have a great weekend x

That's great news AFK - well done. I really hope it works out for you. And working more than 16 hours means your employer will still take and pay NI contributions so this change will make sure your State Pension continues to top up
    Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Thank you SL - I didn't even think of that, thank goodness that worked out well  :)as I did at one point suggest 14.5 hours .

Manager said that if things don't work out, I can always move back - nice to know there is a plan B.

It will be a complete change for me, and with enhancements not exactly halving my salary ;)

Still haven't decided on that 25% tax free lump sum :o but know exactly what I would do
with it, when I do eventually decide.

Crunched the numbers last night - for the million(th) time, and I still get the same, so all good.

I am so looking forward to it, it is still actually sinking in, what I can do with this time off :D

If I take my 2 days off it actually means I have 12 days off together :) another nice bonus :j
:dance::dance: (I used this as money shuffle - now it means Happy Dance) :rotfl:

Ah, off to check just how many hours holiday I will get . . . ;)

  • Thank you KK, can't wait !!! How's your job situation going, travel industry sounds like fun - not work ;)

Last week was my first full week in ages (couldn't get a day off - short staffed) so a full week
it had to be. Shuffling at one job whilst taking calls and dealing with another job.

    "There's a shift going Saturday" - I said I'm reducing my hours, :D
They then said "there's a shift going Sunday" - I said I'm reducing my hours, :D
They then came back - "Will you do Saturday short or long shift or anything you can do" - I said I'm
    reducing my hours. :D

Holy **** - they now want me to work 12 days in a row :rotfl:

I'm now off Tuesday for working Saturday  and that's after doing a late night last week,
they just know I'm a such a soft touch :o

Reducing hours start Nov (because of staff shortages):(, but I can see since reducing my hours - I'm now working more
so that was a good move  :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: My own fault :o

    Rant over.
