    Hi Bexster

Hope things are ok with you.

Party yesterday was lovely, first time my mum got to meet her great great niece :) travel was alright, actually forgot just how much I love travel and being on the water :) came out of the hotel and for a moment forgot where I was, heard a noise, it was the waves lapping against the shore - really miss that, its so calming :)

It's against my grain to phone in sick to shorten my working week, just wished I had thought through/sorted it all out beforehand. #fedupnow :rotfl:Now think it's a bit of a liberty to expect me to use a/l to shorten my working week as I have being doing for over 3 months now :(
    It's just too long

On the other hand - looking forward to tonight's show - if anything like the tv series, should be hilarious :rotfl:then I have used another a/l day to shorten my working week  :j, last week my full working week happened because I did not know/forgot? it was my turn to work a PH. :(

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Oh I agree that calling sick to avoid becoming sick is unfair. But it is unacceptable that you must use a/l to avoid becoming ill just because they won't sort hours in a timely manner.

Have a terrific evening, enjoy your day off tomorrow

I hope the new working contract hours kicks in soon AFK. It's terrible how they are manipulating you.

  • Have you spoken to your Occ health to ask for reasonable adjustments?...… I gather you've accumulated a bit of sickness and would trigger policies if more sickness taken. Personally I would play the game a bit ( again not ideal) If they made me use AL to shorten my weeks, once out of watch periods take a longer episode sickness to redressed the AL balance... I do say these things but have not yet done it :o

    Thanks MFD,

Your idea has crossed my mind, and I would suggest it to others, would I be able to carry it out -
    I'm not sure.

Trigger points don't worry me, if your not well, your not well, (however might worry me, if I went
on to half pay  but that's a long way off).

Occ Health recommended certain duties and a phased return, but to do that you have to use up a/l :( and even more shocking, because I was off March, I didn't manage to use all a/l from last year's. They took 5 days a/l off me to carry over for this year :( so not only have lost these daysbut lost around 12 days having shorter working weeks :( GP also offered to write a report to support
my application for shorter working week.

Not a good situation to be in - this has been going on since July :( too long, far too longgggggggg

Enough to make anyone ill :rotfl:  ;):D

  • Hi there AFK,
I've been reading through your diary over the last couple of weeks since joining the MFW board. Congrats on becoming MF  and on taking the plunge with reducing hours. I reduced from full time hours years ago and make up to full time when there are extra shifts or spend time with my second side line job to increase income. It would take a lot for me to ever go back to going in 5 days as I just found I ended up working lots of unpaid hours on top, and was too tired for do anything with second job (which I really like but irregular work). Plus there have always been extra hours because lots of public sector places don't recruit enough staff in the first place!
Anyhow I have a long way to go with my MF journey (in the region of £242kish :eek:) and I will be following lots of the tips from your diary so thanks :)

  • Well "Thank You" YV and welcome

and must apologise for half my ramblings :o on my diary but glad you managed up to date :T

Must congratulate you on reducing your hours with such a large mortgage :eek:, I would never have considered that until I was MF. So well done you

I have a date to stop full time work and start p/t work, but they are testing the water with me
hinting if I would be available the day after I stop full time :rotfl:and feel I am cheating a little
as with enhancements should not be dropping salary too much for now.

I had such a **** day yesterday that I nearly told them I wasn't going back, however as usual,
will give myself the weekend to "cool down" and see how I feel Mon morning :o

I only hope that after persevering with my diary that you managed to pick up a couple of tips
that would enable you to become MF that little bit quicker, rounding down was my favourite,
and I'm sure as you journey along, other diaries will be a huge help and encouragement to you.

I wish you All the best and Good Luck with your MF journey  Stay focused :D

    Good morning YV and AFK

    I'm delighted you have a date for P/T now ( I hope it's this side of 2020!)

I'm afraid I would do as Suffolk lass? I think it was she who suggested saying you have appointments on your days off. Frankly, I'd just tell them no, but easier to say you are busy. Lazy morning today for me. I won an eBay carpet ( brand new offcut) last night for £10 which I'll collect tomorrow am. I'm watching a couple of other things I fancy which end today, so may be on a round robin collection tomorrow morning.

Half term here next week means a bit less work. However I've just bought a camera to start blogging for my business!! So when it arrives I should start practising so I can upload content before Christmas!

Have a great weekend, forget about horrible day yesterday. Weather here is dry sunny and cold. Hope it's similar where you are

    Bexster :)
  • Morning Bexster,

Yes date is Halloween :rotfl: think there be something in that ;)

I'm just such a soft touch, and can't say no, even when they do when I need
    something.

Great bargain there, sprucing up your place ? or for your new place ;)
Good luck with your other items.

Half term ends here which was great transport wise getting to work.

Wish I had known about camera, as DB gave me one to ebay, really good camera
it was, and didn't want much for it. Made an error on listing :o somehow listed it
stating I would post abroad  oh heck :o ended up posting to Italy :rotfl::rotfl:
through ebay. Lesson learnt. Buyer was extremely happy with his purchase. :T

Someone on here (MFW) done a bit of blogging too, you will need to let me know
when you start posting, best of luck with it all.

Yesterday will play over in my mind. People can be so selfish and inconsiderate.

Weather here is dry and sun trying to come out. Enjoy your weekend.

The carpet is for my hall and wardrobe floor and airing cupboard. £10 to do the lot! Sadly had to cancel a winning sale on eBay as seller wouldn't let me collect 😞

As it was a metal and mirrored tray, I didn't want it posted in case it broke. I live ten minutes away from them and offered to go at their convenience. No dice apparently. Still a couple of other bargains finishing this weekend. I'll pick up carpet in the morning.
No worries re: camera. I have researched what it considered the best for blogging, and got one with accessories for about £150 less than the new price of just the camera so all good. I will let you know when I post my first video. ( I'm not sure you are my demographic as they are educational blogs!) but would be happy for you to be my 1 viewer!! 😂 I'll admit I have messed about over this girl nearly a year. I have made a deal with myself that if I don't have a video to put on YouTube before the new year, I need to resell the camera.

Wish me luck. Enjoy the sunny weather. I've been tidying up outside ready for winter

    Bexster :)
