Apple Pay

In terms of TfL 99% of the time I've had no issues tapping in/out at the gates but on my last visit to the Capital I had an error trying to exit.

Had to step out of the way and perform a soft reset on iPhone before trying again.

Not ideal when people are entering/exiting quickly! Good job it wasn't too busy!!

This is something I'm dreading. I have been buying Stagecoach Bus Dayrider tickets on a smartcard (5 Smart Days) because I don't travel by bus very often. Now they've stopped it and I have to get mobile tickets on my iPhone and pay with Apple Pay. Can get a paper ticket on the day but the discount is lost. I just know it's not going to work. There was enough trouble when smartcards were introduced. Ok I'm a pessimist.

It's done through their app on iOS or Android. Now I don't know. Info says Paypal, debit and credit cards but when I tested it and went to the checkout the wallet with Apple Pay launched. I'll see when I go live.

Wonder if it's like thetrainline.com's app where you can use Apple Pay to complete the payment-touch wood it should be OK 99.9% of the time.

My unqualified opinion is that the Wallet has to launch so the tickets can be stored. I'm just hoping the tickets don't go off into the wide blue yonder.

More confusion on the way because Stagecoach Bus has contactless, Apple Pay and Android Pay on trial in Scotland. So buses might have two terminals, one for NFC concessionary passes and smartcards and another for contactless.
