Apple Pay

Had the weirdest thing happen when I tried to pay in the Coop. The card reader showed "authorising" for longer than normal but the payment was eventually confirmed by the usual ping. Then the cashier asked me for a signature, on the slip his till had printed!
The amount was £18.47, and I had used the Santander 123 credit card umpteen times before on Apple Pay, including at that Coop store. The transaction is showing on my card statement as an Apple Pay transaction.
Puzzled.
I've just had to sign like this for a transaction at Aldi for £46.90 using Apple Pay with one of my TSB Classic Plus cards. I've used my cards several times in the past, up to the £30 limit, but this was the first time I'd use Apple Pay in Aldi. The transaction didn't take any longer to authorise however.0 -
Barclays promise a date for Apple Pay - 60 to 75 days from January 12 which might mean April?

Apple are rumoured to be announcing new devices in March so I reckon iOS 9.3 being released around the same time will bring Barclay's into the fold (although they could enable it anytime they want!)It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I don't think any new devices or OS will have any bearing whatsoever on Barclay attitude to Apple Pay. Their inevitable support will happen sooner rather than later. They could have supported it much sooner, if they wished, but are still acting like a grumpy teenager. All you need to ask yourself is "Is this how I would wish my bank to behave?"
BTW: Apply Pay on iPhone 6s is already smashing :-)MFiT-T3 #149: {Q4/14} (£46,447)-->(£0) ~ +£46,447=100%

I think Barclays were too busy focusing on their bPay products and also the new Android service (on qualifying devices using their app).
It's hardly money saving but Apple Pay is great... handy being able to pay for things with my Watch :eek:It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
If you've bought an Apple Watch it's fairly clear that saving money isn't your driving force.
(This is posted in jest. You can obviously spend your money how you see fit)0 -
I've been using Apple Pay whilst Santander are paying cashback and it's mostly been working fine but today it went awry. It initially seemed to work. The reader beeped and my phone displayed 'done' but it hadn't worked so I went through the procedure again. Same result. I paid by another contactless card in the end and it went through without issue.
It's handy to have as a backup to the physical cards but once Santander stop giving cashback I don't think that I'll use it very often.
I've just had exactly the same issue in Waitrose so my assumption that it was simply an issue at Tescos is incorrect. I had to pay chip and pin in the end.0 -

I have the same issue every time in Tesco and Boots. I have never successfully used Apple Pay in either shop. Their terminal tells me to "insert card". Obviously one can't insert a virtual card - such a stupid message. My guess is that these shops' software hasn't been updated to support two-factor authenticated contactless payments. For the same reason, the software probably limits Apple Pay to £30 per transaction, which would be another indicator that a software update is needed.
That would make sense but I have successfully used it in both shops in the past. I just won't bother again. For the sake of £3 for February I don't see that it's worth it.0 -

From what I've read Apple Pay should only be subject to your "available funds/limits" in Boots as of November last year.
However whenever I've used the self-service checkout once it goes above £30 the software automatically greys out the contactless option.
Morrison's (another 'launch' partner) also restrict their Apple Pay to £30, as does the Co-Op.It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
