Morrison's (another 'launch' partner) also restrict their Apple Pay to £30, as does the Co-Op.
    Same at Waitrose

I believe Waitrose *were* limitless for Apple Pay but they've disabled it 'temporarily' for some reason.

MasterCard/Apple Pay have a promotion on at the moment which means that any TfL charges today (and next Monday - 14th) will be refunded in a month or so. As it happens I have reason to use TfL a fair amount today so duly used my phone for this morning's journeys.

It can't just be me who gets an error when they try to open the barriers, surely? At Waterloo East this morning I had 8 or 9 attempts before error 97 (or was it 93?) stopped appearing and the barrier finally opened. I tried coming out of the Apple Pay screen on my phone and starting from scratch. I tried alternative barriers. Very embarrassing.

I had the same error once more at my local station. I'm going back up to London and will also need a tube this evening. I'd better give myself loads of time!

I am happy(ish) to put up with this in the knowledge that I'm getting a 100% discount but my experience is contrary to the majority on here who consider it far easier to use the phone than a card.

Edit: I've Googled it and there isn't a 97 so it must be 93 - Card Contents Corrupt.

It is indeed error 97 and I get it very often. It's not confined to Apple Pay, but happens with any contactless payment on TfL. I've experienced it ever since TfL launched a contactless pilot in July 2014. I would say that one in three touches of a contactless card (including Apple Pay) on a yellow card reader give error 97.

I've complained to TfL many times, but I just receive stupid replies such as it isn't a widespread problem (contradicted by what the staff at ticket gates tell me) and they tell me to check with my card issuers, even though I've experienced it with at least 10 different contactless cards, a variety of both physical cards and Apple Pay as well as American Express and MasterCard. It's a total disgrace on TfL's part and it's high time that the problem was investigated and fixed.

I agree that contactless cards have the same issue but it's much more frequent with Apple Pay. I'd say that I have a contactless card error perhaps once a week but yesterday (involving 6 train journeys) I had over 10.

I had another issue yesterday which I'm certainly not blaming on Apple but is as a consequence of using the phone to pay. I went to the theatre and rushed out after the performance but hadn't turned my phone back on. Cue me looking at my screen waiting for it to spring into life! I missed a tube but fortunately for me my train from Charing Cross was delayed a couple of minutes so I managed to get it. Had it not been delayed then I'd have missed it.

I don't suppose that I would make the same mistake again as it's quite a unique issue. I was at The Royal Court Theatre which is right next door to the tube and I dare say that had I had a 5 minute walk I'd have remembered at some point.

Apologies for bumping this thread back into life but if you're a Barclays customer (exclusions apply) you can now use Apple Pay.

:( Unfortunately this doesn't work for me as of right now. I can't add either my Barclays VISA or my Barclays AMEX.

Going by Twitter, nobody is able to add their Barclaycard VISA/AMEX cashback cards. Mentioned in the Barclays announcement.

The dreadful show by Barclays continues.

It is dreadful giving that American Express themselves have been on board since the service first launched last July.

I don't have a third party issued AmEx anymore but Lloyds Bank supported Apple Pay on the Choice Rewards duo last September (and I imagine the likes of MBNA) are on the list too.
