ING Direct offering £75 - mailer

I got a leaflet and application for this offer through the door today. Delivered by Royal Mail but not addressed to me, so I assume everyone in my village got one! Am very tempted to go for this, I'm just worried that I'll have to keep my 1000 pound in the account for a minimum time after I get the 50 pound gift. Has anyone successfully done this and how long did you have to wait before withdrawing your money again?0

But see what it says:YorkshireBoy wrote: »I rang ING re this yesterday, and they are aware that these links are doing the rounds on the internet. They informed me that when you apply your details are cross referenced with those on their database, and if your name isn't on their mailing list (either electronic or postal) you won't get the £75 - or any other offer value.
Also, as an old customer (I withdrew my last £1 a couple of months ago), I was told that they'll keep my (log in) details on file for 3 years thereby preventing me from benefitting from these type of offers for a considerable time.
Happy to be proved wrong though so good luck to anyone who tries.
"This offer is valid for new ING Direct Savings Account customers only who open and fund an account (etc)"..."ING has the right to refuse to open an account"..."All other standard terms and conditions apply"
Thus if these are the offer's T&Cs then I can't see how that information was correct: Unless they refuse to open an account to anyone just asking about the £75, say, they appear to be restricted in what they must do here. Their mailings are intended to advertise this offer, no doubt, but nothing in the above limits the offer to just those people......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
I've just spoken to ING who have more or less confirmed what YorkshireBoy stated in that, they have recently targeted certain people or addresses and that the offers would only apply to those people.
However, it's not that clear cut as apparently those mailshots addressed to individuals (£75) are for those persons only, whereas those addressed to the occupier MAY be entitled to be used by others (£20 or £50) on production of the offer code located in the bottom rhc of the mailshot (perhaps the BR----), though that was not guaranteed !
In other words give it a miss unless you're feeling extremely lucky !!
The c/s rep did ask where I'd heard about this offer so I advised it was from word of mouth and was to ask the said person for the relevant code.0 -

Like we said, if your lucky. Strictly speaking, if you didn't receive something in the post inviting you to join up, you may not get the money. ING told me it was certain postcodes as well as individuals that had been targeted.0 -
I just rung the 0800 number and a man told me that I would get £75 added on the 5th October if I put in £2 500. Does this mean I am one of their "favoured ones"?earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0

I rang them and they didnt know the offer was available via their web site. After some waiting I was told by the help desk that I would receive the bonus because they would know that I had linked to it via the offer page.
I dont think they know what they are doing.0 -

i may be mistaken, my opinion is that all the application forms look the same only difference is whether a promotion code is entered or not.
i wouldnt believe what ing say on phone i cant see them paying out on applications without a promotion code.
when i phoned i commented about the way theve treated existing customers and how when base rates go up, ing rates go down, person i spoke to agreed that they havent been following base rates upwards but claimed theve not needed to cos savings balances hadnt suffered a outflow. (which we know is not true)0 -
I have received the same letter with an application form offering me £50 for putting in £1000 befoer 01/09.
I have looked at the accompanying letter twice and asked others to see if there is any reference to having it in fo a certain length of time and we could not find any reference to that.
I'll probably photocopy the mailshot as evidence at a later date should they dispute this.0 -

I had one of the 'to the occupier' £1,000/£50 offer applications delivered in the post today, so thought I'd check up with ING as to whether things had changed - and I was surprised to find they had.
ING customer service staff have been briefed since my call to them on Monday and it has been decided that anyone quoting the offer codes via telephone will in fact be given the incentive. As such, and despite only closing my old ING accounts down a couple of months ago, I've gone for it. The CSA (name, date, and time of call noted
) was adamant that I would be given the £50 incentive because whether I got it or not simply depended on how he 'closed' the telephone application down once we'd completed it. He informed me he simply had to tick a box saying "pay £50 incentive".
They even let me keep my old customer reference number (although I'll get a new PIN).
Please don't blame me if it goes belly up, but I'm sufficiently convinced to let them have £1K for a month to see.0
