Useful for when people ask "how do I do clean install" but a shame its hidden right at the end.

It still takes hours to download an ISO (64 bit home edition) - I started at 8:45 this morning and I am still only at 37% complete - I am on an 80Mbps fibre connection too !!

Wow, OH's one was downloaded and running in just over an hour on a 7mbps connection. (Not an iso though. )
Installations are seeming to be quite random, mine took upwards of 5 hours and 3 installs for the lenovo to get working.

Kept 10 on my desktop, even though it does seem a bit flaky, with the taskbar crashing but admittedly recovering every now and then and some items like Cortana and notifications not opening when you click on them.

But on my laptop gone back to 8.1, my trackpad, wouldn't start up, windows 10 wouldn't activate, taskbar crashing, Cortana, notifications etc, doing the same, not opening every time. Windows shell DLL crashed a couple of time.

My laptop, is a 2015 model, which costed the best part of £1500, so is no old worn out thing, that might struggle, so disappointing.

Having gone back to 8.1, it looks much more polished than 10 does at the moment. It makes 10, still seem like it's in beta, looks wise in particular.

I agree - I reckon that 10 was rushed out too soon
MS may have made a mistake

Apologies if these questions have been answered already but I haven't been able to read through the whole thread.

I've just installed Windows 10 on my HP laptop and have noticed a few problems:
    - mouse touchpad scroll (synaptics) isn't working. I've looked through settings and all the relevant buttons appear to be checked
    - hibernate button seems to have disappeared
    - laptop seems to be running hotter than with Windows 7

Is anyone else experiencing these issues?

Found out how to activate the hibernate button. Still curious about the scrolling problem though...google suggests this is a common issue?

Have you checked HP website for Win 10 drivers ?

Quite possibly a driver problem? Or even a random clash with some other software - saying this because 10 is running happily on my Surface Pro 3, the only issue I had, which was pinning/unpinning tiles, was caused by Kaspersky.
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail

I see no mistake by Microsoft .
Downloaded installed tested wiped with clean install added Classic Shell . Searched for drivers and updated .
Deleted all win 7 and 8 backups etc .

Drivers are down to the manufacturer not Microsoft .

There's never going to be a perfect time for a new version and there are always going to be bugs.

Some of the apps, like mail though, have lost key options that were present in 8.1, such as select all.

There is NO excuse for that. I'd be amazed if it wasn't flagged up by thousands and thousands of testers during the beta stage.
