but it can be downloaded and put on a disc/USB ready to go.
I have it on a USB and an ISO file (for burning to DVD) on a back up hard drive.

Thanks, that's worth thinking about. I just don't want to be responsible for anything going wrong and messing up her computer. She's even less knowledgeable than me when it comes to all things technical.

How big a USB stick will I need to download 10? If I do it safely then perhaps I could do it for her.

When I click Download, does it give me the choice where to send the download?

Oh oh, just seen the post above. I'm going to leave well alone for the time being.

The ISO image is around 4gb so you'll need at least 4gb USB stick,

saying that it refused to install on my 4gb stick but did work on another 8gb one.

I am running 8.1 and reserved my copy, but have had nothing yet. Is it rolling out in phases for those who reserved it?
I refreshed my windows updater, and had an update, but it also says that I have reserved windows 10 and the usual 'we will let you know' message

Do I just need to be patient?

If you can see a folder called
    C:\Windows.~bt
That's the download location, if that's there then just wait. You can then download a bit of software from MS to create an ISO disk and upgrade manually.

    try downloading the "tool" https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

this can be configured to save as an iso/burn/or install , I saved the iso and loaded a pendrive using rufus

I've installed it on a HP Laptop. No real comment on it yet, except during the install / upgrade process, it has somehow uninstalled my Norton Internet Security, but left Norton Utilities in place!

Having done multiple installs of 10 on various machines. It never took anywhere near an hour, let alone 2.

My download was pretty instant but took about 90 minutes to install!

    Hello,

I tried installing Windows 10 on my Laptop this morning and it, killed my Laptop almost.

I didn't receive a notification it was ready or should i say i never clicked on the windows icon on the taskbar.

I started the installation from the updates page where it said to install Windows 10.

I followed the procedure and it didn't work and i was left with this message on the Screen,

    PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM,
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key.

I have now tried to reinstall Windows 7 from my recovery disks and still get the same message, so my Laptop is useless at the moment.

Any ideas how to solve this problem.
