I was sceptical when I first saw it, then got interested. Now I am not sure because it is a 3GB download, and with our pathetic B T Broadband speeds it could take weeks.0

I dont understand why giving it away free? I just dont think it will turn out to be free, yes for 1 year then in year 2 all those who have a genuine Win8.1 key such as myself will get a email saying that now 1 year is over you have to pay £100 for your software will stop working.
Im still not sure if this is a free unlimited offer from Microsoft. Is it free once youve downloaded it FOREVER? Yes or no?All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
I am assuming that MS will not be offering this upgrade in DVD format - only upgrades through downloads ?
What about upgrading Win 7 professional - will this entitle me to Win 10 professional ?
Also - I seem to remember - when Win 10 was first on the cards - MS mentioning free 3D glasses with every install ????
Will Classic Shell be 100% compatible with Win 10 by then ?
My laptop runs Win 8.1 upgrade - so apparently does not qualify for a free upgrade !!
Win 7 Pro -> Win 10 Pro;
3D glasses? no idea;
Classic Shell. Why would you need it? However, their home page says "Start button for Windows 10"
Why do you think "Win 8.1 upgrade" cannot be upgraded?If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
So im getting this notification on my tool bar to dl Windows 10
I like to keep up to date with things and this says free upgrade. What does that mean 'free' does this mean free upgrade with nothing to pay or does it mean free upgrade, then pay something after its installed? Its hard to find any clear answer.Is the upgrade free or not? Its free to upgrade, but is there then a fee to pay, how long is this upgrade free for if it is infact free?So are they saying if you have 8.1 you can dl the software for free, and it will stay updated for free. There will be no cost to the people who take the free software for that 1 year period? I have seen if you upgrade you cannot go back to what you had. This is my concern, I dont mind downloading it and giving it ago, then 1 year down the line they say you have to begin paying for it. to find you are snookered.I dont understand why giving it away free? From microsoft themselves
'Windows 7 and 8 users can upgrade for free to Windows 10 for the first year, the company announced. Users will also be able to schedule their upgrades in advance using a reservation system.'
Still that is not clear. does that mean after 1 year you will have to pay for the software you downloaded a year before? or does that mean its free to dl for 1 year only then whoever else wants it after 1 year will have to pay?All the big powers they've silenced me. Consider this though. UPDATES to Windows 10 after the first year may be chargeable. If you have Windows 7 you should consider this along with the fact that 7 is supported until January 14, 2020 :think: For small business and home customers I will be advising to stick with 7, unless they have multiple clients and 10 can be evaluated in parallel with 7.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -

ok , updates will be chargeable after the first 12 mths , as we all know it can take 9 mths fof m/soft to sort bugs out and released sp1 , so sp2 follows in mth 13 , and we pay to stop there system being hacked?0

I don't think its been stated yet by MS that updates will be chargeable (or from when they might start charging). But 10, being a "tidied up 8", should be pretty tight.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0
