Microsoft have said that they will not charge for updates.
But, it is fun seeing all the old cynics making more excuses to live with XP or W7. :D

There is more to life than this Windows trivia.

It is a fair day. Go out and have fun.

Thanks, I was out at five this morning having fun (before the rain), doubt you have had any.
True there is more to life, however, in case you needed reminding this is a W10 thread.

Well thats not quite what it says.
It says for the the supported lifetime of the device.
    Who defines that?

Perhaps you should read the whole of the text I quoted and not just the selected bit you did.;)

    Microsoft have defined it.

    Which part did I miss?
"once a qualified Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, we will continue to keep it up to date for the supported lifetime of the device, keeping it more secure, and introducing new features and functionality over time – for no additional charge.”

Yes, you are correct, that is the bit you missed out in your original quote. Unless it was the way the forum formatted it.

So basically my post stands. M$ set that period. So your statement there will be no charge for updates isnt quite true.

I understand what you were trying to say now. But, I don't agree with you. I read it as they updates won't work on devices that the manufacturer no longer supports. Not that they will charge you for updates from then on. Updates will carry new features that may not work on unsupported hardware.
They may give even more details on launch day and I'm willing to be shot down. Either way, it won't stop me installing W10.
