And if that doesn't work manually install KB3035583
No hurry though - you've got 14months (-9 days) left...

(You can retrieve the key from a running Windows system - but of course, you usually realise you need it after the event.)

And not from a slic oem, the key will be a generic used for all their models.

Yeah I think that's the cause of the 'supported lifetime of the device' thing mentioned earlier.

Previous versions came out of the box with a pre-defined expiry date. It may have got extended (like XP), but you knew that after a certain number of years, it was time to get the next version.

But with Windows 10 (if Microsoft stick to that plan anyway) there won't be a next version so they can't say Windows 10's lifecycle ends in 2025 or whatever.

At the same time, they will keep developing Windows 10 and sooner or later it won't work with current hardware. So they have to set another end point; hence the talk of 'supported lifetime of the device' (whatever that means).
Not sure this is actually comparing Pears with Apples
Microsoft surely don't make/design the hardware....

Not much point asking a question after demonstrating that reading is not necessarily an acquired skill..;):)

Seems that politeness is also an aquired skill?

The update is not applicable to your computer

That's the message I got, but thanks anyway.

Lack of it is much more obvious!

I didn't get the icon on an 8.1 laptop. Read my post #183 for what I did that eventually got it for me.

Since then I've updated the graphics driver from an Intel download and the incompatible message is now "This report is not available" instead. Still not sure why I didn't get the offer automatically as it seems some people did with the same graphics.

I did that one too, before posting. And it didn't work, thanks anyway.

I will just be a bit more patient!

Have you checked the scheduled tasks to

    a) see they are actually there
    b) what response code they are getting

If they aren't there I think it must be because the two fixes I noted aren't installed - not sure why you are getting the not applicable message on the one you said you did try.

    ===

Just rechecked my scheduled tasks. I seethe one that was failing still has the same error code even after manually re-running it. I'm pretty sure that the GWXTriggers entry (which is empty) is new too. Had to link to pic as it screws up post formatting.
