Since it is almost back to 7, go back to before you tried to upgrade to 10 through system restore?
You've got until July 2016 to get the free upgrade to Windows 10. Hopefully by then, they'll have ironed out a few of the problems...

Help please - I tried to upgrade from Windows 7 home premium to Win 10. on my samsung RV511 laptop.
First try a message appeared saying it would disable the samsung solution progam (which had been a godsend once in the past!) but I said ok. Ran through then on second boot the logo appears on black background and just hangs.

Hours passed and then I turned off and back on and receive the message that windows 10 could not be installed and the computer is back to previous OS. (minus the samsung solution prog :()
    Error: 0xC1900101-0x20017 Safe_OS
I have tried dozens more times to install the windows 10 but it just hangs on the second boot.

I read on one site that there is a problem with samsung and some other puters drivers? Someone said you have to remove the wireless unit to get 10 to download  Im not a techi.

Has anyone any ideas of how to get round this problem please?

Should mention Ive tried the media thing way too and no joy.

Did you try the keep nothing option ?
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

When you installed did you link up to a Microsoft account (eg your hotmail account)?
If you did, it's THAT password you should be using. Or did you set up a PIN or something that you should be using instead?
grumpycrab's suggestion is a bit drastic.

The password I'm trying is the correct one ( gives a password hint so I know its the right one)

Tried grumpycarbs sussestion - still no joy

    Thanks for trying to help

Assuming you've still got 10, this may help (sorry, involves a password reset which you have to give a try)

I'm not sure the hint is any guarantee.

If you started with a local account and hint, but then converted it to a Microsoft account where the login is an email address (with a different password) I wonder if the old (but now incorrect) hint would be left behind.

(trying to go back to previous OS...) when you select restart and holding the SHIFT key do you get Advanced Startup Options screen? (just wondering why you don't get the revert back option).
  • Spent 2 hours on the phone to microsoft yesterday- spoke to 2 people - both with accents which made it dfficult to understand - the advice in the end was to take computer to a local repair shop as it may have been corrupted during installation.
I was in tears by then - really upset - not got either 7 or 10 now
  • Thanks to folks who tried to help - I've installed LINUX and its great

Good that you've found a solution. There is so much available for the Linux platforms these days that you'll probably remain content with it. It's what I've put on an old Vista (spit, spit) box I had. Saved it from the tip...:)
