Is this upgrade worth the hassle? I'm reading a lot about how and what to do but nothing on if anyone wishes they really hadn't. I am imagining many other people had good experiences but didn't post than those who have posted on here or elsewhere and mentioning all the niggles and hiccups they've experienced but even so, no one has said weather they wish they hadn't bothered or not.

I currently have Winds 8.1 on a desktop. Am thinking 'if it aint broke...' but am wondering if the difference is that much- is there very much to see as different or is it all hidden under-the-bonnet type changes?
At the moment it's only a test release, so presumably it will undergo changes before the proper product is out (MS did changes after the final Windows 8 Beta).

The "if it ain't broke" comment about Windows 8 is amusing...:rotfl:

This is the final release, the same as if you bought it in a store.

Show me where you can buy it right now. Windows 10 FINAL is not released yet.

Is Win 10 only going to be available for free - via update download ?
Is there going to be any way of obtaining an MSI ?

To answer that you merely have to wonder WHY Microsoft are throwing out this update - It's more a case of how broke Win8 was when they released it. :D

Rumour has it that although Win10 is free, after 12 Months if you want any essential or security updates from MS, have your bank card ready to pay for them. ;)

I could not get it either rest of the family fine running an intel hd graphics 4000
Hmmm.. maybe that's why I don't get the upgrade icon too.

I had thought it was because I'm currently on a 3g Mifi. The scheduled task that brings up the icon (according to what I've researched) is in the task scheduler library under \Microsoft\Windows\Setup\gwx and the refreshgwxconfig task there is showing completion code 0x80072EFD which seems to be normally associated with a connectivity issue.

Well that would be a quick way to losing millions of their customers to Linux or using illegal hacks to get around the restriction (as already happens now).

Much more fun to rely on unsubstantiated rumour than any fact.
