My personal opinion is, it's terrible.

I switched to 10 and had nothing but problems. Amongst other things, trouble with emails and Windows couldn't download any Security updates of which there were many.

After trying to sort things myself and wasting hours mucking around with it, I got in contact with Microsoft Help for some assistance (very very long wait times which I think shows the problems people are having) and each time they wanted to take remote control of my computer which I declined. I said you know my problem please just give me some written guidance.

Their help was that I should muck around with the computers registry

In the end I couldn't and didn't want to waste any more time on it so I switched back to my previous system which lo and behold works absolutely fine. Emails are no problem and Window updates download and install with no problems.

You have one month from downloading Windows 10 to switch back if you want to. When you do switch back however you do seem to retain bits of Windows 10.

I am sticking to what I have got now for as long as I possibly can.

I am not very good with sorting computer problems. If you are, then you may want try it. If however you are like me, you may struggle if you encounter any problems like I did. In that case, if you really want to switch I would leave it a while and let them sort the glitches

So you declined remote assistance, and declined their instructions.
  • You must give unto Microsoft, that which is Microsoft's.

    Amen!

Working efficiently with negative problems on both machines.
A lot of problems people are having are not with W10 but with individual machines/set ups....

Clean install (or don't keep anything) is always the best and least painful way to move to an new OS, Microsoft have made a rod for their own back by pushing so many people to upgrade as an overly with such a diverse range of hardware and software conditions.

If they had true separation of user data and not all mangled in with the OS structure and registry it would be an easier prospect.
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.

I don't disagree with the Clean install claim. However, my laptop has been upgraded from 7 to 8 to 8.1 to 10 (including all the insider builds) without a clean install at any time and it's had no problems.:)

There are some strange things going on. When I click on the Windows 10 icon it tells me it is waiting for Intel to update some drivers before it can begin my download. When I went to switch off the computer on Saturday night a message came on telling me not to switch off the computer as "operations were being carried out". I left it on most of the night. On the Sunday morning it was telling me that the upgrade to Windows 10 had failed.

I was expecting that they would download the files and let me upgrade, at my leisure, but it seems they are just going ahead and upgrading anyway.

I am still getting the message telling me that they are waiting for updated drivers from Intel.

Just glad I got three computers.

Yes I did. Would you recommend letting someone who you don't know from Adam have remote control of your Computer and all your personal data then? You must be a very trusting soul.

As I pointed out, I am not very good with technical details concerning the computer and when they advised me to go into the register and make changes and there is a warning message that you can cause irrepairable damage if you do so I suppose you think that would be a good idea as well?

I took the best option for me. I was just telling my story and advising people that it may be better to wait if you aren't confident with fixing errors that can crop up.

Unfortunately we aren't as capable and trusting as you.

Given when I went back to my old system it was in good working order, had I mucked around with the registry not knowing what I was doing I would have been in deep ****.

Well I dont need people to have remote assistance of my PCs as I maintain them myself.
However as a non tech person, you declined remote assistance and refused the solutions offered.
So not really much they could do for you.

This is NEWS to me - I never realised that MS were even set up to offer remote assistance - especially for private individuals ?
Are you sure that you were dealing with Microsoft - not Murcoshaft - the well known MS impersonators ?
