Prepaid Travel Cards guide

Ok folks. LARGE slice of humble pie to be eaten by me on this one. Revolut does exactly what I want, with the added bonus of getting through to a human voice fairly quickly when I wanted to clear up a couple of points. I hope as they expand they remember the importance of good customer service :-)
Thanks to all posters above.0 -
Hi
I was wondering if someone could help me. I am due to be going on an elective with my university to Malawi in January and February and the rural village where I am going has an ATM which accepts VISA but not Mastercard. I am wanting to get a prepaid travel money card but all the ones I see (including the FairFX one which I have used previously) are Mastercards. Could anyone point me in the direction of a reputable prepaid visa travel money card?
Thanks.0 -

I'd like to give a currency card to a family member who is about to move abroad (Japan).
That is, I want to pre-load it with some currency (paid for in GBP), but once that's done the card will be in their name and they can top it up (or not) as they wish, but it has no ongoing connection to my bank account.
Which will give me the best deal?0 -

Revolut, if they have a Smartphone.0 -
I looked at Revolut and even installed in on my phone but I couldn't see how I'd set it up as a gift for someone else?
(They do have Android smartphones.)0 -
RUSSIA?
I want a pre pay card that I can use in Russia in both shops and for cash withdrawals - paying for items in rubles and withdrawing rubles from cash machines. And which charges as little as possible for doing so - preferably zero foreign exchange fees. And has good rates of exchange.
Can anyone please suggest a card?
Many thanks
(For info I already have a Pockit card which worked for me in Russia last month, but I just noticed they charge 4% foreign exchange fees)0 -
There is Revolut but based on my own personal experience of it I don't recommend it.
Again based on my own personal experience of visiting Russia you would be better off using USD rather than Rubles. The market is virtually flooded with USD travel cards so it's a buyer's market with a lot of choice. Personally I would try the prepaid Travelex Cash Passport.0 -
Hi All
Got myself a Caxton Global card a few years back after seeing it featured on this site. Am looking to use it again next year on my travels as i still have some cash on it but it has disappeared from this site. Can anyone update me as to why this is? FairFX much better?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
