    Hi guys.
Can you please advice what best option is available for me to get a card for my mum.
She lives in Armenia and i need to send her money on regularly basis so she can use ATM.

I tired Supercard (registered with my name) and send over to her, for couple of months was working fine then start to decline and take money out from my debit card (have to dispute). Yesterday she tried again ATM swallowed the card and bank refused to give the card because was registered on my name. So i guess its not reliable card.

Can you advice good prepaid card available for me? and how can i register with her name so she can deal locally if there is any issue and i can upload funds from my UK debit account?

    Thanks in advance.

You could get both of you Revolut cards and then you could simply transfer funds from your card to hers. Topping yours up as necessary from your bank account.
  • Anyone used the Seasons travel card and want to offer feedback? It is the only prepaid card I can find that uses Visa instead of Mastercard and where I am going the ATM only accepts Visa.

Trialling the Seasons Visa debit card in Orlando, Florida :)

If you are under eighteen, consider a FlexOne account and debit card ;)

If you don't qualify, you can also consider the FlexBasic account and debit card
Slightly better value overall than the Prepaid card and of course you can be confident about the Nationwide.
  • I've been looking at the live FX rates and charges for this new pre-pay card and they seem to beat any other pre-pay card on the MSE comparison list. I'd like to know what MSE thinks of this card before I get one. Can we have a review, please?

Doesn't beat Revolut. But why don't you get one?
  • I've just returned from 2 weeks in Orlando, I took a little cash and this Revolut card which I had topped up with GBP and converted to USD.
I found the card very easy to set up.
    Pros
It worked very easily in restaurants and shops, if the payment terminal gives you a choice select credit card as in the M&M store it didn't work as a debit card.
Some times I was asked to sign, sometimes I was asked for the PIN, sometimes I wasn't
Very easy to top up over wifi via both at home and when in USA
    The app updated instantly
    Con (just 1)
Revolut don't charge for cash withdrawals but every ATM I used charges, cheapest was the Chase Bank machines which charged USD2

Great card which I will be using when I return to the states next year (unless they introduce charges)

Any card would incur the same charge when used in most (not all) ATMs in US, so it's not actually a 'con' of Revolut. Thanks for the report.

    Hi All

Got myself a Caxton Global card a few years back after seeing it featured on this site. Am looking to use it again next year on my travels as i still have some cash on it but it has disappeared from this site. Can anyone update me as to why this is? FairFX much better?

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I have a caxton Global card which I have used for a number of years but will be scrapping mine. (NB - first make sure your card is still valid as they changed people from Visa to Mastercards this year)

Since moving over to the mastercard I've had a number of issues with it whilst travelling lately and the support is very poor. I'm not convinced that the exchange rates are as good as they were and loading the card is now more difficult. Previously you could load by text message but this is no longer possible with the MasterCard version so you need wifi to load. I've had a number of instances where the card just hasn't worked for no reason.
The main reason I am changing is that the weekend just gone both my husband and I tried to load extra on our cards whilst in Venice. The app wouldn't work - neither would the online version so we couldn't get more money onto our cards. I have checked my bank this morning and the loads HAVE left my bank account but not credited my card. I spent 10 minutes on hold trying to query this and then was told it had been 'captured' and they would release it now. Too late for me to use and I will now have a 3% fee to put it back into my bank account. Women I spoke to didn't seem to understand why this was a problem. So purely from my experience I would not use - I would switch to a more reliable card. hth
  • I have no idea what you mean when you say:

There are no limits to topping up and and transferring money with Revolut however we require proof of funds to process large transactions.

What do you mean by topping up and transferring money? Do you mean topping up from my uk bank to transfer into another overseas bank?

    Thanks for any help

Yes, as I understand it, that is not included in the annual limit for third party transactions using Revolut. If you intend to do that, I can say from experience that it works well and I have totally avoided bank fees so far, although they warn that there could be SWIFT or intermediary bank fees involved (which would be outside Revolut's control).

But I am not Revolut, if you want to address them directly try an email, 'Revolut Official' does not seem to post here these days.
