    Hi All

Got myself a Caxton Global card a few years back after seeing it featured on this site. Am looking to use it again next year on my travels as i still have some cash on it but it has disappeared from this site. Can anyone update me as to why this is? FairFX much better?

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Revolut and Kalixa Pay(if used optimally) are better.

I looked at Revolut and even installed in on my phone but I couldn't see how I'd set it up as a gift for someone else?

    (They do have Android smartphones.)

Order the physical card and then give it to them. But it will have your name on it....unless you ask for an emergency card. You can only top this card up by £1000 per annum unless you verify your identity. So as long as your gift is £1000 or less. it should be fine.
Alternatively, set it up with their name and address(but then they will know that you are setting it up for them, as it's best to use their number, so that they can administer the account if necessary) and have the physical card sent to them. You can then transfer cash from your Revolut account to theirs.
They can use it anywhere that accepts Mastercard and at ATM for cash withdrawals.

    RUSSIA?

I want a pre pay card that I can use in Russia in both shops and for cash withdrawals - paying for items in rubles and withdrawing rubles from cash machines. And which charges as little as possible for doing so - preferably zero foreign exchange fees. And has good rates of exchange.

Can anyone please suggest a card?

    Many thanks

(For info I already have a Pockit card which worked for me in Russia last month, but I just noticed they charge 4% foreign exchange fees)

Try Revolut. You can dismiss the awful advice received from Anthorn. As if having a US$ prepaid card will give you access to US$ in Russia. Quite mad.

Otherwise Kalixa Pay is good for purchases and larger cash withdrawals.
  • Hi there, I am heading to Asia in Jan and want a card that i can get good rate (free) cash withdrawals in each country and some we are only staying for 3 days. Which is the best card for this?

    Revolut......

    Halifax Clarity...
  • Thank you.

Do you happen to know what the limit is on loading a revolut card?

And do you know what the security is? In terms of getting my money back if they have problems? (not saying they will have problems, I just wonder if they are covered by any scheme that protects money??)
  • RUSSIA

I should have mentioned that I am considering buying a very cheap 'dacha' in the countryside in Russia for about £30,000 and wanted a method of safely and cheaply (in terms of cost of the currency) getting the money to the seller in Russia. I was hoping to use a card to pay for the property ??presumably into the sellers solicitors account?? or my Russian solicitors account or even into the account of the estate agent that I intend using (I may well choose one that has links to the UK).

If you go to Revolut.com you can find their FAQ section which answers lots of questions!!

Are there limits to my Revolut account?
There are no limits to topping up and and transferring money with Revolut however we require proof of funds to process large transactions.

Card spending is limited to £30,000 or equivalent per year with a sublimit of £5,000 or equivalent per 96 hours meaning that you cannot exceed £5,000 or equivalent in card spending in a 96 hour period. Cash withdrawals from ATMs are limited to £2,000 or equivalent per day.
  • Hi guys.
Can you please advice what best option is available for me to get a card for my mum.
She lives in Armenia and i need to send her money on regularly basis so she can use ATM.

I tired Supercard (registered with my name) and send over to her, for couple of months was working fine then start to decline and take money out from my debit card (have to dispute). Yesterday she tried again ATM swallowed the card and bank refused to give the card because was registered on my name. So i guess its not reliable card.

Can you advice good prepaid card available for me? and how can i register with her name so she can deal locally if there is any issue and i can upload funds from my UK debit account?

    Thanks in advance.

You could try a FairFX 'anywhere' card.

If you register it to her at your home address, you'll be able to load it with your debit card.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
