Prepaid Travel Cards guide

The only reason I got this card is because I wanted to take out a Caxton card as I've a euro card, but as I live in Jersey, my post code no longer works for them. So it's bye bye to that !
Got a Revolut card a while ago, without issue, including the verification. I have put a bit of money on it, which was really easy, and tx to dollars. I have even paid for sports events I'm going to when I'm out there with the card online before I got my physical card, which came within a few days.
I did have a couple of issues with the inapp support not getting back to me. However recently I have had a quick response. One thing I found annoying though - I have text my family as my brother's off to France, my sister is heading to US too (different trip). My sister's husband took a good look at the card (he's an accountant and is particular about money) and very quickly realised it's potential and got a card - I got the £5 credit. However my partner took an age to go through the text link and sign up. I didn't get the £5. Turns out, when we asked the inapp support, that the text needs to be acted on within 2 days.
I've not yet done my travelling, but I'm really pleased I've looked here as I will now ask for the magnetic strip to be activated tomorrow. Pity it's not 1- automatically on 2 - detailed anywhere in documentation that the extra step is needed.
Finally, I am disappointed that I'm now reading that they may start charging after a year; however I do understand that things need to make a profit nowadays.
It is on automatically.0 -
A quick question, with the revolut card, is there a limit to how much you can use it within a year? it did say 1 - 1000 initialy somewhere within the app, but can not see the detail anymore....
Either it is too late, or i am lost within their clear FAQ.
Thanks,0 -
and an other quick question re revolut card!
Can I pay in from my uk account with my card and withdraw on a french bank account for instance without any fee?0 -

If you want to utilise more than £1000 annually, you will have to go through a one time verification process.0 -

You should ask them. In any case, nothing to stop you from withdrawing via the ATM and paying into the French bank account.0 -

If the French account belongs to someone else you can use the 'send' function to give them some kind of link by email/SMS/WhatsApp to receive the funds (I have not tried this yet). Or if the other person has a Revolut you simply do an instant transfer to them with the 'send', then they can withdraw.
Goodbye bank exchange rates and charges...!Evolution, not revolution0 -
Great news re Revolut! So will have prepaid revolut which is mastercard. Halifax clarity which is mastercard, and santander which i believe is mastercard too.....
Am I safe with mastercard only? Rather be safe than sorry!!!!!!
I still have plenty of time to apply for additional product! :-) Visa product, debit card....
Additional questions, in order to minimise interest on credit card use for cash withdrawal in case i am using them instead of the revolut card.
Should I make advance payment to clear credit card balance as i go along to avoid charges!
Or will be charges me very little so i do need to worry about it.
Thanks so much.0 -
