I'm off to India in February for 2 weeks, just found out that you can't take Rupees in or out so I need a Global card that I can load with Sterling and then use at ATM's with no charges and also use it to pay for things in India at hotels ETC.

I have been all over the Internet researching this type of card and the Revolut Card seems to be the best, am I correct in assuming this or is there a better card on the market that will be better for me, also after I have been to India I will no longer need the card, unless I go abroad again which I don't think I will as this is a once in a life time trip for me and the fact that you can't take Rupees in or out of India causes me somewhat of a problem, no intention of taking Sterling in cash.

Any help from Members would really be appreciated and thanks in advance for any replies.

Just registered for the Revolut card, ordered a physical card through the app which is reportedly due to be posted by 26th August. Have loaded £10 into the wallet and the extra £5 from using the MSE code automatically updated, will update once the card arrives and when I use it in Ireland if it's here in time (travelling 3rd September) :)

I've opted for the Revolut card for my holiday, seems to be getting a lot of good reviews.
Although I'm still waiting for my card to come through. Contacted the in app support but no response yet. If 'Revolut Official' can help that would be great!
Hoping this is just teething problems due to demand.
I'll review it once i get back.

    Hi Lucy,

Its very hard for us to look up your account just from MSE. Could you please email support@revolut.com. But just a general update: Cards will arrive to you by 3 working days if you are in the UK. For International deliveries it may take longer and varies with each country but it most cases cards will be with you within 5 - 7 working days.

Back from the family trip to Dubai, thought I should report my experience using the Revolut card. This is the first time I went abroad without getting local currency in advance - putting my trust in this new card.

Bottom line is the card worked in the ATMs and shops, and on a total spend of £1939 I've saved £67 compared to my Barclays Connect card, and £71 compared to the best cash exchange rate. So, a real success for me!

The app is really easy to use. It has not been without a few teething problems, but the excellent in-app chat support has been superb. Bear in mind: the chat support isn't 24/7.

A word of advice: if you leave it until the last minute to top-up from your bank account, you're relying on having a data connection and no internet problems. I tried to top-up in Dubai Mall; the WiFi worked, but Verified By Visa wouldn't connect (think they had website issues), so the transfer wouldn't complete. Fortunately, tried again later and it worked. In hindsight, I should have topped-up much earlier, there's nothing to lose!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Revolut, and hope it's a real success! :)

    Hi
I am travelling to Turkey in sept and thought I would give the Revolut card a try.
I have down loaded the app, no problems and was also credited with 5.00 once I put 10.00 on it.
I have a few questions for the rep though that I need answering before I go.

Will I just be able to use the card straight away or will I have to contact you in regards to activating the magnetic strip first?? ( why did other posters have to do this?)

Second question will I be able to use the card in turkey to withdraw Turkish lira from there ATM's?

and finally are there any charges associated with the card for example transaction fees of any sort?
    Many thanks
    credit card bill. £0.00
    overdraft £0.00
    Help from the state £0.00
  • Just to flag up about Revolut. DON'T use them! They blocked my account as they were concerned about fraudulent activity (brownie points for that only) but didn't tell me. Only realised when I couldn't transfer more money. So I contacted them through the app, they told me it would be sorted by the next day. It wasn't so I contacted them again as I was leaving for Sri Lanka in two days. They told me it was still being sorted and then went offline. Finally, today (4days later) I got hold of someone just 2 hours before my flight and was told I needed an email from my banks head office to verify my identity - none of this had been previously flagged up and they had all my holiday money in the Revolut account. Finally thanks to a wonderful person at NatWest personally ringing them they unlocked the account 45mins before my flight. I just can't believe that they didn't ask for this info earlier and that it took so much effort on my part to get them to actually respond when they had over £1000 of my money!

It that the reason why no one should use them?? Have you heard of the phrase "chucking her toys out of the perambulator..."?
I predict that there will only be a single post under your username, ever...ok perhaps two.

    Hi Revolut Official.

As new retirees we are planning a trip to Europe in our motorhome and your card seems ideal - apart from one thing - petrol stations!

We would be loading all our spending money onto this card (travel until half way through the money then start on our way back). We would have hoped to use the card for filling up the motorhome throughout our travels but if this issue has not been resolved then we will have to think again.

    Hope you can help.
