  • Hi I just wanted to take the opportunity to feedback on the Revolut card which I have applied for.

A month later, I have not yet received the card but am more concerned that they have sold details of my personal mobile number to marketing companies, even though I opted out.

To avoid spam I have two mobile numbers (one for junk) but I registered with my personal number because apparently the app lets you send and receive funds with friends & family. So no other organisations have my number, except the Telephone Preference Service itself.

Nonetheless I am now getting spam, and Revolut's privacy policy, which I stupidly didn't check before, states: "We may also provide your information to third parties for promotional and marketing purposes." As a Californian company, they obviously don't consider themselves bound by the Information Commissioner or the TPS.

I just thought this might be helpful for other prospective users, apart from the fact that a card has been awaited for about 5 weeks now and still no sign!

Since my above note, and especially since the poor feedback I left on the Play store, Revolut called me, and said they were concerned that their privacy policy might be misinterpreted as they do not give out numbers.

I took the opportunity to explain to them that their privacy policy expressly reserved this right, and they have assured me that they will be updating this to confirm that they do not give out any details. While I remain skeptical that any organisation can resist this temptation, I appreciate that they seem to be taking it seriously and I look forward to their policy actually being amended. For anyone wanting a read of it, the quick link is here [I was not allowed to post a link, so you'll just have to Google it]

    hi there
i have my new revolut card and everything is is activated and my identity has been approved and sorted through the app.

has anyone used thier card in the USA at Atm's ?

also is the identity thing only used in shops ?

iam just a little unsure about putting a large amount of money on the card and then having a problem stateside, i only want it to draw cash out, iam not interested in using it in shops like a credit card.

it looks a great idea and the rates for $ are the best ive seen, like anything thats new iam a bit nervous until i get to use it abroad.

    thanks

    Hi efc40,

Our card will work in most ATMs in US especially if you have the magnetic strip activated. The identity check is so that we can verify for you to put more than £1,000 on the card.

  • I will be using my card and sending money to another Resolut Card in the USA this summer. Is there any thing other than activating the mag stripe that I need to do to make using the card easier/securer?

    Hi South_Hams,

You won't need to do anything else.

    Hi,

This seems like an awesome product. Good luck in finding a revenue model that works.

I have tried to transfer money out to a UK bank account, but it is being delayed (a couple of days so far), and the helpdesk tells me this is normal.

What is the cause of this delay? Are you not on the faster payments system? Will this be improved in future?

Again, congratulations on a great product.

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks for that.

We used to run on faster payments (within 4 working hours) but are using BACS again now temporarily. We will soon be back on to faster payments for withdrawals and transfers in GBP.

We travel to Italy next Tuesday and will have roughly £1000 to spend. I'm a bit wary about taking all that money in cash so was thinking about a pre pay card. We won't be using it to make purchases, just using it to make cash withdrawals for that reason I would prefer to have a card that doesn't charge for cash withdrawals. Is it possible to get a card so close to travelling or Is it a better option to take cash to avoid charges and fees?

Unless you are buying cash euros from a friend or someone at the mid-market rate, you will not be taking cash free of charge. There is also the loss incurred in changing what you don't spend back to GBP.

Everyone is talking about the Revolut prepaid card on these threads lately, and it is probably the only fee-free card you can get at short notice, if you make a special request.
