I am off to New York at the end of the month, thought I would let you know about my Revolut experience (all good so far) applied for my Revolut card when I read about it on here. Took a couple of weeks to arrive have since uploaded funds which is really easy ( and instantly got my £5) , transferred to $ at the best rate I've seen and paid for my Esta using the dollars which instantly showed on my app. Am really impressed at what I have seen so far
I will need to do the identity authorisation but having seen the instructions on here doesn't look like it will be too bad.

Take it out of a cash point and learn from your mistakes. Will cost you 5.75% plus ATM fee.0 -
You don't mention which currency, but some people have succeeded in unloading prepaid Euro cards for straight cash in Euro dispensing ATMs, such as Raphael Bank (London) and First Trust bank (N Ireland). Then find someone who needs Euros to buy them at mid-market rate. Unlikely to be convenient, and unlikely you will pick the worst choice card next time...Evolution, not revolution0

Just got back from a 2 week holiday in France. No problems using my new WeSwap card there for purchases. Transfer process is straightforward, and the app and website are clear and easy to use.
So all in all very happy!GeriatricDelboy wrote: »I have used Weswap prepaid card for last 5 months in Malta and Prague with absolutely no problems. Cash withdrawels and purchases with card effortles. Easy to load - have loaded Euros and USDollars obtaining great rates. Be aware that if you delay the swap to take advantage of the lowest charge of 1% you are subject to the exchange rate movements during to period prior to completion of the swap. No hesitation in recommending on experience so far.0 -
Would anyone be able to suggest a card for my situation?
My wife and I received over $1000 as a wedding gift from American relatives, and are planning on using the dollars for our honeymoon later this month. However, we are unable to find a travel (prepaid) card that would allow us to load directly in $ on it. The post-office and all the other cards we've seen so far only allow sterling to be loaded and then converted into the currency we want - obviously we don't want to convert to sterling 1st cos then we'll lose out on good % of it when it's changed back to dollars, and we certainly don't want to travel with it all in cash.
Would anyone know any services that would provide a simple preloading of dollars, for us to use?
Many thanks!0 -

I ordered a Revolut card before going on holiday to Finland and Estonia at the end of last month (7/15). It came within 10 days, was very easy to use via the app (money transferred instantly!) and I had no problems taking cash out of an ATM in both countries. I had only one problem when trying to use the card to pay for shopping on the ferry between Estonia and Finland. The app showed the money had been taken, but no recipt came from the machine so i had to pay with cash. The money did return back on to the card, however, it did take 10 days for this to happen. Despite this issue, I do trust this card and would recommend it becsuse (as long as you have wifi connection) you can instantly transfer money from your UK bank to this card and it charges no fees so you don't have to take lots of foreign currency away with you and anything you don't use you can instantly exchange back into Pounds!0
