Just spotted this. My connection was down for 5 days because Virgin have sold out to TalkTalk and they not only made a ***** of my access, my IT bloke tells me I'm their fourth Virgin customer with this problem in the last few weeks. Back on now (clearly;)), after six phone calls and much fairly basic (not that Basic;)) language on my part.
As soon as he comes back from his hols he's switching me to Plusnet which is a reet good Yorkshire firm:) With a reet good Yorkshire call centre :D
    Hahahaha! I'm with Plusnet!
However, I've been really pleased with the service in the 18months I've been with them. One of the reasons I chose them was because of the British call centres. In the past I'd been with Virgin.net, and had real trouble understanding what the advisers were saying. :(

The problem yesterday was possibly because they'd sent me a new router over a year ago, but by the time it arrived, the old router was working again so I didn't switch them over..........consequently the adviser thought that there'd been a miscommunication with the old router, as they thought I had the new router with a different password number. Or something. :D
Anyway, today's glitch may just have been coincidence! Hope so!

Does the connection drop intermittently? Have you looked at which channel it's on compared to other networks in your area. When mine started playing silly b's that solved it for me.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Pyxis, have you tried turning it off and on again?

It tended to go once in a long while and appeared to be related to extreme weather, but then it wasn't out for very long, really, and not often enough to make a fuss about. Normally it's very good, and quite fast, too.
No idea about channels! Am reluctant to start changing things! Just changing the router means that my wifi printer has lost contact with my iPad and I can't remember what I did to set it up when I first got it! Can't find the instructions, assuming there were any!

    Yup! First thing I did!
It was probably due to the system thinking I had a different router from the one I actually did have.

Eeeeek! Ok, not a bird then, Georgie! Hamsters also make really good pets but a lot of people view them as children's pets. They aren't at all, it takes a lot of work to make a hamster truly happy in its surroundings. I shall keep thinking on possible pets. Chinchilla's, maybe? They are adorable and ever so cuddly.

We had a lot of birds when I was little, code and also had one that was cage territorial and would attack if you came near. There is a horrid story behind why we had the birds which just shows what a disaster my mother was but I will save it for another time when the house isn't vibrating and it doesn't sound as if a pneumatic drill is in the next room!

Chinchillas are adorable! But, rodents are another big no no! Loving the suggestions though!

I wouldn't recommend plusnet to anyone personally. My Mam had so much trouble with them when she had to cancel my Dad's internet. She got so much conflicting advice that she didn't know whether she was coming or going, and they charged her seventy odd pound when there shouldn't have been a charge for cancelling it....luckily she got is back though. They were truely useless.

Having said that, my Dad never had any problems with the internet service itself, but their customer service could do with a overall.

Luckily we've got 2 different ISP's. One for home (BT) and one for work (O2). Never had any problems with either....touch wood!

The premier was on in London the day we came back. I currently have a one eyed one staring at me as we speak that I won on the grabber machines!
