Loved your 91 year old, WaS.

LIR, is there room for an alpaca? (I don't have one for you but they are supposed to be good for protecting hens from foxes, and it would be great for the thread, lol).

Well if WaS can go and meet loads of animals and befriend old men, then I can definitely go to the zoo by myself. I've bought a ticket and everything. Unfortunately I bought one for the wrong day so I have emailed them to see if they'll change it.

Go back to the supermarket & chat to him again WaS. You made his day, er, night, and maybe you could keep in touch, perhaps with the odd postcard. All this animal contact must be having a beneficial effect on you as you had some good cheer left over for him. I can't believe you actually got out of the car and talked to him for so long! Glad you both had an uplifting time.

I don't know! Now she's picking up stray men! :rotfl:

Seriously, though, how lovely! Mind you, I think it's hilarious that, in being concerned for your safety, alone in a car park at night, he didn't consider that he could have scared you witless knocking on the window! :rotfl: Bless him!

Solarjunkie's idea is brilliant! A new penpal for WaS!

Codemonkey, of course you can go to the zoo on your own!

I decided a long time ago, that if I didn't go to places on my own, I'd never go, as it was so difficult finding like-minded people who wanted to do the same things. That included concerts and even the odd show. It then extended to weekends away, and finally to holidays abroad, admittedly on themed holidays with like minded people.

It's not so much the going alone that bothers me as such - I went travelling alone and I quite like wandering about places by myself, or with only the dog for company. There's just such a climate of fear, that any adult wandering around a child friendly place without a child must be looked at with suspicion.

But the lure of fluffy animals to look at it wins. And non-fluffy animals. I could watch the Rhinos for hours.

I wouldn't look at a lone adult wandering around a zoo with suspicion.

Anyway, children need to learn healthy interactions and if people don't go out then the children have nothing as a benchmark for developing a healthy intuition.

    Evening all!

Nice to see you back LIR! :)

Lovely to read the updates WaS! Loving that you met and talked with that man, he sounds so sweet! A penpal would be lovely wouldn't it?!

I understand where you are coming from code, and it's a shame people have to think of things like that, it's a sad state of affairs. I remember reading a while back about an amusement park banning adults that don't have a child with them from entering. No thought that some people might just enjoy visiting and going on the rides!

I think it's perfectly fine to go on your own, that way you can spend as much time there as you want. I remember walking past really close to some Rhinos, and thinking 'Wow they're HUGE!! But kinda cute too!'

AFM, I'm just really grumpy, feeling abit down, and everything and everyone is p*ssing me off. :(

Just to cheer you up georgie, here's a rhino doing a poo.

It's a horrible thing to have to think of, but some people are hysterical about it all. I get such looks for the crime of walking past a school (it's on my way to work - I'm not randomly cruising school playgrounds).

I will look at the rhinos and the chimps. You only get a short time slot to see the pandas and if they aren't there it's just tough, which is a bit disappointing. But I hear they've managed to artificially inseminate Tian Tian again and mate her with the boy panda who's name I've forgotten but means Sunshine, so hopefully it will work this time and we'll have baby pandas.

Having watched Panda cam and seen her do very little other than nap, and sit eating all day, I reckon I am actually a panda in disguise.

That photo is just so, erm, so heartwarming code! *over come with emotion* :rotfl:

I always think I'd make a brilliant cat. Likes having naps, likes being stroked (hair and feet! Get your minds out of the gutter people!), eats too many treats and likes going on adventures! But now I'm thinking that I'd make a darn fine panda too!

I've often thought about being a cat too. Or a spoiled dog like DA dog. Now he has a good life. Plenty of good food and treats, and spends the day when he's not walking and playing with his buddies or being cuddled, brushed and pampered, snoozing in the sunshine. I could get on board with that.

Ok Georgie, if the rhino isn't helping, I'm upping the ante

eta: Hmmm that's a very small ante
