I think top sheets were invented in the days when blankets were itchy.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

I got a boost today when someone told me they'd sponsor me £10 for the 5K walk - I mean run - that I am doing soon. I was so surprised but it made me feel great!
.
You've just reminded me, not only must I start doing something that resembles getting my backside up of the sofa and getting a little bit fitter, but I should also start getting in some sponsorship! I just keep on thinking 'you did 20 miles no problem', and then I think 'yes, but you were over 2 stone lighter then!'
I think it's brilliant you're enjoying your [STRIKE]exercise[/STRIKE] keeping fit!
When's your run again? Mines 2nd August.
Those total warriors look fun! We have one on the harbour each year.0 -
welcome back LiR
good luck with coming off the meds (if its ok ith your docs). I've thought about it at times myself but knowing how quickly i become ill when i'm off them, i don;t feel ready to take that step yet (or know if will)

I am enjoying the exercise but I still am feeling swamped by disgust at how I actually look. It is a shock to see myself in the mirror (which I have avoided for at least two decades) and find I don't look remotely like the person I should be! I actually don't even remotely know how I would look if I were within bmi.
I was even contemplating having one of those 3D models made of my current self https://www.asda-photo.co.uk/bookings/asda-3dme-a-miniature-3d-figure-from-asda-photo
so that I have a record of my before and hopefully after. And also so that I actually understand what I do really look like currently. But I worry that I will self-destruct if I do that. Maybe I need to do it but lock it away for 4 years.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Maybe I need to do it but lock it away for 4 years.BUT as it went on and i was losing weight, i could see my body changing and my tummy getting a bit smaller each time. Obviously it all went out the window, but it did help to be able to see the change, but i stress it is hard to look at pictures like that when you hate the way you look so don't do it if you feel it would upset you too much.
I'll probably do it again when i start my new health kick after my holidays. Even if i do detest the way i look now (I talked to Swain about it last night actually, he said he's happy with me how i am but if i want to lose weight he'll still feel the same and he just wants to see me happy, be that at this size or if i did lose weight)

You're so used to seeing yourself in a certain way, so I guess it's about reconditioning yourself to view yourself and accept yourself how you are now.
Those figurines are awesome! I didn't know such a thing existed! I wonder how long they've been doing them? I actually think it's a good (if somewhat pricey!) idea. That way you will see the good and the bad, every lump, bump and curve, a total visual representation if every there was one! I guess it's up to you to decide whether you'd be strong enough? I think maybe it might help?0 -
Code, I've just spent the last 10-15 minutes looking on London Zoo's website. I've discovered they've got a butterfly house, and I just love butterflies! Butterfly candle holder, butterfly scarf, and even a butterfly tattoo!
We had been thinking of going there, but had dismissed it. But now I'm all interested again!
Oh, and I've just been watching the Panda Cam at Edingburgh Zoo! :heartpuls0 -
Lovely to 'see' you LIR
Swain does sound lovely MU.
Must stop watching the pandacamcould lose hours!
Great to hear you've been making old men happy WaS
As for all this talk of firemen, got me steamed up
Ww - i have wanted to do a tough mudder or similar for years but been too scared, when I get back in the Autumn I will be looking for a local team to teain with, have you thought about looking for others who are interested?0 -

Chilly hugs to all!
Why are you in a tent in a field, JM? Is it a gig?
Top sheets were invented to keep blankets clean. You couldn't wash blankets every week.....too heavy, especially in the pre-washing-machine days,.........and they used to be wool, which couldn't be washed easily, anyway. So you had a cotton top sheet which could be washed.
Ah! The days of making beds!) Non-fitted bottom sheet, top sheet, up to three blankets, then an eiderdown (in winter) or a light bedspread (summer).(I just lurve spiders!)

You know how the duvet can slip down inside the cover, and leave and annoying flap of cover that flops on your face? I call that "haddocking".
Top sheets are even worse for haddocking - guaranteed to wake you in the night0
