Thank you, LIR! I think I have just found something to ask for a combined Christmas and Birthday present from Milliefleur! The rosacea makes my cheeks incredibly red, I usually cover them in green tinted moisturiser to dull it but then I end up with red lumps all over my face by the end of the day. I would love it if solves it for me too, I have been battling rosacea for 20 years now and have rarely not been red and lumpy!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Yes, I remember your looking for something to ask for! I get mine from space NK, but you can get it from them direct.....
In fact.....if you email them and explain some one has suggested in might help they might just send you a tiny sample? Cannot hurt to try?
One of the big things for me was finding out what was aggravating as well as finding things that helped. The avene and aveeno ranges are especially for skin conditions ( avene has a lot of anti redness moisturisers, lighter and heavier ones for different times of year and probably the best cleanser I have ever used) . Trying to use other non aggravating brands, things branded as 'non aggravating' was I realised, extremely aggravating. I realised that nivea cream, which I was layering on to try and replenish my skin was actually extremely aggravating. I thought of it as an extremely 'simple' but emollient sort of moisturiser. Ouch, it made me sore.0 -
Ouch! I have tried so many moisturisers and foundations, even hypo-allergenic ones make it inflamed. It is also extremely sore after wearing makeup. I haven't used soap on my face for years because it reacted really badly, I currently use Clinique cleanser which isn't cheap but is about the only thing that causes minimal lumps and redness. I shall try what you have recommended, I would love it if it paled to a flat pink, that would do!
I also shall try emailing the company for the cream, they might be feeling generous!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I would try bare minerals. Very nice powder to set foundation and gives a very matt finish. A few have no colour which may suit you. Not cheap but it does last.0

Hello Jee, and thank you! That is another one to try!
Funnily enough LIR, I tried Almay, it is very similar to Clinique and that caused most of my skin to flake off! It isn't really a question of what stops it sadly, it's a question of what causes the less lumps and redness. It never actually goes, even though I take antibiotics for it. Sun is even worse, if it gets hot or even worse burnt it looks and feels awful. I have emailed the Healgel people, a tiny sample would be wonderful.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I hope you might be helped by some changes. My skin is 'perfect' now. ( I actually have a spot, but no rosacea). But I really did have to stop every thing I was doing for a while. For a while I just used heal gel and ( water to wash with.) my skin cleared up but looked not "glowing" or vibrant.
There is no doubt I have sun damage over the years.even though I have stayed out of the sun/ used factor fifty since rosacea I have a mass of freckles appearing that are going to become age spots. One of my pills increases photo sensitivity too.
. I'd like to use a cream for those, but it am sure that would trigger rocasea:D.

My antibiotic for rosacea causes photo sensitivity, that along with rosacea itself and ocular rocasea plus the fact I burn after 15 minutes probably means I should become nocturnal. In the summer I just hide away because nothing good is out there for me!
That really is amazing that your skin has improved so much. I have brown patches developing on my cheeks and I am not sure if they are related to the rosacea itself or the antibiotics to treat it which can also cause dark pigmentation. The other downside of the antibiotics is that they cause brown teeth staining. I absolutely hate that because it looks so unsightly and is very hard to remove. In an ideal world I would love to come off of them and just control my skin with creams, I am a bit more hopeful that is possible now!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I cannot take the antibiotic for it.
Its not good that with the antibiotic your skin is still so reactive. Do you think this might mean something you use might still be aggravating it?0 -
It's very possible. It is better on the antibiotic because without it I had huge, red peeling lumps that would crack and bleed and it looked terrible. Now it is down to bumpy cheeks, redness and soreness but it is still a long way from ideal. Everything apart from water aggravates it, it seems, which is difficult because I have naturally very dry skin so I need something to moisturise. I even tried baby lotion and Vaseline thinking they couldn't cause a problem but it was inflamed the next day.
I don't think you are missing anything really by not taking the antibiotic, it takes the edge of it but the problem is still very much there and you don't want the brown teeth!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
