Actually, I'd keep it. It could be valuable one day!
If it's any consolation, I grew up with that nursery rhyme, and didn't relate it at all to what people relate it to now. I'm not saying it's right, just that at the time it was written, it really didn't mean much. And certainly didn't influence my mindset, or that of anyone else I knew then.
Its like at Bristol they called the new shopping centre Cabots Circus in the end.
They were going to called it Merchants Quarter but because of the associations to the slave trade they changed it.
To me a merchant is a trader. Never would have associated it with anything else.

Me neither! How strange!
I can only assume that it was because Bristol traded in slaves back in the day.
But still not sure why anyone would make the connection.
But there you go.

Talking of de cluttering, ever since I started a few weeks ago, I've got the bug now and I'm still at it! I'm loving either throwing stuff out, giving to the charity shop or selling on eBay. I'm getting rid of stuff that is of no use to me anymore and making some extra money or helping out a worthwhile charity!
Just found an online car boot sale before, might give that a try when the stalls open again on Sunday!
Hi Indiekid! Glad to hear the baby is doing better.Hope you are too soon.
Wearing your engagement ring again isn't strange Calley, if it's a nice ring, then why not? On your left hand? Hmm maybe a little strange, unless you're subconsciously wanting to scare off new dates!0 -

And yes its a nice a ring. It does feel strange wearing it on the left. I still have my wedding ring somewhere.

Did a bit of googling, and apparently, records show that John Cabot bought a slave in The Middle East, and sold him in Crete!(I just lurve spiders!)

I don't wear jewellery a lot either. I very rarely wear my wedding ring. My Mam hates the fact that I don't and worries "what will people think?", well personally I don't care what people think, I know I'm married, I don't like wearing jewellery, so I'm not wearing it just for other people.0 -
I've decluttered the dye from my hair trying some dye stripper.
I'm blondey red now.
I'm trying to adjust to my new hair colour, but it's awful.
The dye stripper pack recommends not using permanent or semi permanent dyes for a while, but I look bleached!
I'll see if it looks any better in the morning. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Evening everyone,
WaS, I can tell you that there are boarding schools for children with mental health problems as I used to work at one. I loved it, except for when we had to take them swimming as I hate swimming! I used to support a lad whose parents had given him a rowing boat to use on the school lake. Each time he felt down he would row to the middle of the lake and sit there. I had to sit on the bank and wait for him which wasn't fun in the middle of winter! He taught me to bake amazing banana bread, he was a really good cook. I do wonder what happened to him.
I went to the breastfeeding group. I say group, I was the only one there! I nearly didn't go, but forced myself and am glad I did as I had a one to one session so could ask anything I wanted. Just a shame none else was there as I wanted to meet other mums. Apparently it had been running a month and I was their first person attending!
I had a bit of a hulk this evening. I was in a really good mood but then hubby had a call to say one of his family were coming over. I didn't have time to clean and tidy and do my floors so got really angry. Hubby told me to go and lie down, which made me realise what I was doing and so I managed to pull myself together before things got too silly.
I hate being like this though, I don't like not knowing what will trigger an outburst and not feeling in control.
Hospital appointment next week though so hopefully they will be able to point me in the right direction for some help.0
