:rotfl: That is his default face....inside he is smiling! His reputation as a cat with attitude is well known around here....the vets all love [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]scared[/STRIKE] of him!
He has his loving side that he reserves for us of course, but it would ruin his hard guy image to show it outside the house, so he keeps up the antics by punching boxer dogs on the nose!0 -
Blummin eck!
Think I have got shingles yet again. Hubby spotted the rash on my back. Hoping it is just insect bites. Doctors again tomorrow I think, although he will never believe me! Last time I had it he got a second opinion as he was convinced you can only get it once, and this will be my fourth time, if it is shingles!0 -
Took my sponsorship money through to the charity this afternoon and got talking to the guy there. I mentioned that I was surprised they hadn't had a merchandise stall or such like at the Colour run and he mentioned that there wasn't really any profit in it so they do a cake stall instead, which raised about £1000.
He said if I knew anyone who was good at baking to let them know they are always looking for volunteers. I mentioned that I was and that I enjoyed doing it and he asked if I would volunteer to make some cakes etc if they had any more events and I said of course, I would love to and he was really pleased, and I was chuffed that I could help the charity even more.0 -
Hugs ((((Katy)))) shingles can be nasty.
I've had them twice and so has DH. Fingers crossed it isn't them.

Then you hear that someone in a job you can do is being promoted and you think "Great! I'll go for the job they're vacating!" but they either put it on level transfer so you can't apply or they give the job to someone on an informal basis where techincally it's temporary but it hardly ever is, or the job mysteriously disappears. A recent example - one of my colleagues had been covering a job for 2 years in the above temporary arrangement and management decided to fill it permanently. It was advertised as a level transfer so the woman who had been deemed good enough to do it for 2 years wasn't even able to apply.
It's pretty demoralising. Combine that with the crappy 1% payrises for the last 6 years and it's amazing they have any staff left.
Pretty much what happens here as well. If your face fits and all that...
At least my run went well, am combining jogging and walking on the treadmill and also had a ramble with the pooch that cheered me up no end. She loves the waist lead I tried yesterday...never had her so well-behaved!
Hugs, handshakes, biscuits and love to all

Yay good news Melly, big hugs!
Life here is...frustrating. First of all I will no longer have a carer. This is largely due to budget cuts. I was originally given a carer because WaSp was working so it allowed someone to help me wash and dress and meant I was checked on during the block of time he was away. When he gave up work my care plan was then altered to it meaning WaSp could have a 45 minute break to go out and do whatever he wanted 3 days a week. This is no longer a feasible reason for a carer unfortunately. We can manage but it does mean we will have to complete my physio exercises together. WaSp normally doesn't help me because he has a damaged back with pins in it and the stretching of my limbs used to really hurt him. We shall have to find a way. I can of course pay for my own carer but that is a tad expensive!
I am relatively ok about it but poor WaSp isn't. He knows he can't leave me alone to work but kind of feels now the chance has been taken away if he ever wanted to for a few hours. On the other hand they may review it if that happened. It complicates things because my care plan states that I have to be checked on every 4 hours. Before with my carer visiting it meant WaSp could go out for 8 hours if he chose, 4 hours before and 4 hours after she visited. Now he can only be gone for 4 hours maximum so it is worse on him than it is on me really. I am feeling something of a burden although there is possibly some kind of befriending charity out there that might be willing to pop in for 20 minutes once a week or so, so that he can at least spend longer than an hour visiting his mum. I shall have to find out.
In the second piece of frustrating news our internet is down and will be until the 10th! There is a major fault apparently. So I am using a mobile broadband box which takes a sim card that I pay to top up. At least I have internet, it is just costing extra (a LOT extra).

sending love to both you and WaSp!

Awww, thank you HBS. As long as we can manage my physio it isn't too much of a problem for me, my carer was mainly there for WaSp's sake. I have been waiting for them to withdraw funding ever since he stopped working and they knew they could ask (force?) him to check on me himself. It just makes things complicated because his mum lives 90 minutes away and by the time travel time is taken into account he will be lucky if he gets an hour with her. We will work something out so that WaSp still gets some time to himself!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Oh dear WaS, what a blow!
Just thinking........some time ago you mentioned that WaSp was very capable tinkering around with electronic stuff. Could he do some freelance repair work, working from home, maybe popping out to collect/deliver items? He could perhaps advertise locally and online and/or canvas local repair firms or appliance shops?
Even if it were only one or two items a week, it would give him an interest, and even pay a little? And it may grow!
Or, he could offer to mend electronic things for elderly people or people on very low incomes, for free (excepting parts' costs) at least to start with?(I just lurve spiders!)
