In a rush, but Was, look up mobidata. I don't think you have to commit to more than one month and you can probably manage on a fiver if you are careful. Appalled by your cuts. :( xxx

Oooh, thank you JM! I shall look that up! As I said I am ok with it really on my behalf but I am not ok with it on behalf of WaSp. As he said it is one thing that he gave up work to be my carer but it is another to basically be told you have no choice now, you will report home every 4 hours indefinitely. In a strange way he feels under a lot more pressure and it isn't really good timing with Milliefleur becoming more unwell with symptoms of ageing, he could have done with being able to spend at least an afternoon a week with her. Of course, we could always go over the four hour time limit but knowing our luck the second we do I'll burn the flat down, fall over or become catatonic or something equally as bad.

I am wondering if I can get my medication times adjusted and see if that makes a difference? The 4 hours are mostly calculated on the basis of when my medication due as well as generally making sure that I don't need anything and am not in distress. I shall think on it, I am sure that is a solution!

I will also be brutally honest here and say that another reason I was given a carer was because if left to my own devices I am inclined not to bother washing or dressing nevermind doing physio exercises. I just don't care enough about myself to make the effort just for me when I don't go anywhere. It is easier to lie in bed with my eyes closed and drift in my inner worlds for hours everyday. One thing having a carer did was mean I was firmly in this world at 11am 4 days a week because I had no choice. I am going to have to be very strict with myself and Wasp is going to have to be very strict with me or I know I will opt to avoid reality.

If it helps, could you report here each day to confirm that you are dressed and functioning in this world?

WaS, how did you find out about the carer? Did your bubbly bulldozer social worker tell you?

Please don't let this set you back.

There must be some voluntary organisations that could have someone pop into you at least a couple of times a week, to allow WaSp to go out for longer?

    Worth looking into it?

Oh WaS, that is rubbish about losing your carer! I agree, it may be worth looking into charities (Scope?) that offer 'friends' to pop round so WaSp can have more 'me' time than 4 hours? I like the suggestion of him offering cheap repairs to the elderly too, will keep him busy but will be a very worthwhile cause! :)

Oh and I hope you get some discount/compo for having to be without internet for so long!

  • Funny that should be mentioned whitewing, I was thinking that from September I may have to rely on everyone here to nag me to motivate myself! It sounds ridiculous but I know what I'm like and if I can just drift in my imagine I will do it. One thing having a carer does is means I am sitting in a chair and dressed by 11.45 daily.

It was my bubbly bulldozer's boss who sent the letter. It was actually very apologetic and said that due to budget cuts they were having to prioritise services but this could be reconsidered in the future if there was a change of circumstance.

I am betting there is a service somewhere that could enable WaSp to have a day to himself. No one even needs to stay, really I just need to be given medication and checked that I feel ok. Even once every two weeks would work. I shall research!

I am also hoping for compensation for the internet as I am having to pay for a top up sim. The tv is also down which doesn't bother me but it does bother WaSp! We have no aerial on the roof and an indoor aeriel doesn't work so we either use cable/satellite or have nothing, the landlord does not want a roof aerial installed. WaSp isn't having a good day really.

Don't just try and find a solution for you are a patient.

It may be that it is easier to find help for WaSp as a carer.

Maybe try talking to these people to see if there is anything that they can suggest as I guess it will be affecting others too.

Could WaSp attend a Carers Support Group (if such a thing happens in your area)? If so, he may be able to meet someone who could occasionally check on you if they could occasionally get WaSp to check on their cared-for person. That's what friends do for each other. (But of course these kind of friendships take time to establish).

Also WaS and WaSp, please don't lose heart today. You know that some of your greatest triumphs have happened after you have had some shockingly bad news. You will come through this too.

Even posting about it is helping others.

    This is a brilliant idea!

There are a lot of charities/organisations that have volunteers to sit in with people so the carer can get out and do whatever they need to do (in WaSp's case, visit his Mum), and I'm sure someone from the link WW posted or from a local carers group would be able to advise.

So sorry to hear about your carer being withdrawn WaS. :( But like everything else you've ever gone through in your life, you will cope and you will adapt, I'm sure of it!

Has anyone seen Inside Out (film)?

I am thinking of taking littlewing to see it. She hasn't been to the cinema before.

Yesterday we went to the seaside and she had her first donkey ride on the prettiest donkey.

She was such a good girl, happily playing and paddling and keeping herself busy and safe and bravely trying new experiences.

Then zonked out in the car. We had a brilliant day; the best we'd had in a long long time.
