I don't envy anyone, I just hate myself for not having had the willpower not to overeat, and now for not having the strength to cut down. I suppose I envy my old self, but that is an ongoing state.

I did phone the Friendship Club organiser, and she was friendly! They have a talk by a fireman today. Now, do I want to go and look at a fireman…?

    No-brainer!
    No-brainer!
    No-brainer!

Can we all come, please? :D

    Just thought......are you sure it's a talk, and not a (ahem) sort of......dance? :D:o

Edit...just thought....if it's a talk, that makes it a lot easier, 'cos you're not compelled to chat for much of the time, and when you do, it can be about the talk and the Fireman!

I just caught the end of a radio discussion with some professor talking about eating disorders being more treatable nowadays due to an increased understanding of it being a brain disorder as well as a mind disorder. Unfortunately he didn't elaborate any further, but it would be interesting to find more about what he meant.
:wave:Hello to LSF and oldestgnome - was thinking about each of you the other day wondering when you'd be back.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I think it's something about the satiety switch in the brain being 'off' so you don't get the same full signals as other people.
Of course, some of that is eating too quickly, which I'm guilty of, so that there isn't time for the signals to get to the brain, but it's not just that.

I can see that for people who overeat, but the discussion was also about anorexia, so that implies other mechanisms as well? May have to google, but then I get bogged down in either scientific papers or pseudo-science, and generally end up none the wiser.

Edit - you know dogs are meant to be de-stressers? I've been talked into taking Gitdog to be part of a display for a dogs trust fundraiser. Ask me how destressed I feel after the event.:rotfl:

Code, I forgot to say thank you for the post regarding issues with weight/food. I am so sorry you have been through that.

I'm gently slipping back into my own issues with food so am back to the docs soon.

Whitewing, I feel the same jealousy-wise...I think I'm just jealous of the self-control.

I do fancy trying the 5:2 diet though - Pyxis, I think you do that? What do you eat on fast days? Does it matter that I train ALL the time - can you exercise on fast days? :)

It's interesting to see how many MH issues are being found to have physical causes and changes associated. My response to that is quite jumbled.

I like the idea that it places the "blame" elsewhere, but in a way I feel dis-empowered by it.

Tell me you live near me? I'm coming with you! :rotfl: :D There's just something about firemen!

We had a grand opening of our new look store after it had been refitted, and the manager invited loads of different people for entertainment....including firemen! Now, it was for the kids really, but me being me asked one of the friendly firemen if I could have a go in his fire engine! I sat in their for about 1/2 hour, 'twas very cool! :D
