I think you need to ask your friend to help you. It is her boyfriend after all!
All 4 of us (my GF and I and her and her boyfriend) are all good friends anyway and I would ask for help if it weren't for a few things...
She can't cook anything. I mean anything, she's just about mastered pasta. Plus I'm making pulled pork and chili which needs most of the day to cook/sit.
My obsessiveness also means I hate people getting under my feet in the kitchen and everyone else seems to take longer to do anything, or is that just me?
I'm sure if I asked them to help clear away they would but it would take twice as long.
It does strike me as unfair sometimes that my GF and I always host (as we have a house), provide all the food/drink; I cook for 4 people (now 5 as GF's sister lives with us now)/clear away and all they do is bring dessert sometimes. Though I can't see much way around it without making things extremely awkward.0 -

Surely they could provide the drink as well as pudding?
And couldn't they wash up, even if they do take longer?(I just lurve spiders!)

You'd think so wouldn't you?
We stopped providing alcoholic drink because it was just getting daft and expensive. I've also stopped making "adventurous" meals because again it was getting expensive, especially now with 5 of us.
Unfortunately my obsessiveness means I want things cleared quickly and not an hour or two after we've finished eating. Although that's my thing and it's easier to whizz through it myself than nag and get myself annoyed.
It's a shame really because apart from that we all have a good time, it's just that one thing that bugs me every now and again.0 -
My driving licence has the same photo as my provisional. It should be accepted as photo ID
Miss Mario - I get like that with friends at times too, can't understand how long it takes. Could you ask them to bring the posts thru while you start the washing up? It is a difficult to balance:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -

Just a flying visit as been busy today having a massive clear out, will catch up later.
I know what some of you are like when it comes to cuddly toys, and wondered if anyone would like any of the following (if not they'll go to the charity shop) - I found a MRSA superbug toy, a dammit doll, a yodelling gerbil/chipmunk thing and there's the Minion I won in London that's just taking up space. (Free of course!)0 -
Lovely to hear from you WW
Sorry to hear you've been struggling lately.
£50 is brilliant, well done! How long was your colour run? Did you find it easy? Mines coming up 2nd August and I'm starting to think that I'm going to be a wobbly, wheezy thing running round with all these kids flying past me showing me up! :rotfl: I used to be so fit as well....
I've got my Mam to thank for the majority of my sponsor money. She's been brilliant, and has been going round all her friends, and she knows a lot of people, so I'm very grateful.
Sorry you didn't get the job Calley, but yay to them keeping you on file for anything else that comes up!
Katy, sorry to hear that your boss is still being an a*se.
Pyxis, well done on the start on the garden!
Sorry if I've missed anyone out, I probably have, I catch up on the previous posts and try to remember as much as possible when typing my post, but quite often don't remember it all!
Oh yeah, regarding provisional licences for ID. I don't know about using them at airports, but when we did credit checks at work for people, they'd only accept a full uk driving licence.0 -

I think you'd be perfectly in order to say to them that it's becoming a bit expensive for you to pay for all the food and drink every time, although you don't mind cooking it, and clearing up afterwards as well, and what could they suggest?
Then see what happens.
They're probably the sort of people that think that if you're not saying to the contrary, then you're perfectly happy with the status quo. A gentle request for ideas from you should do the trick. If it doesn't, then maybe they're taking advantage.
Otherwise, your minding a bit will build up to resentment and one day you'll blow!
To be honest, as you're doing all the cooking and then clearing up, I think that they should all pay for the food and you have yours free!(I just lurve spiders!)

Some people don't think and some don't care and take the mick.
I would also take some thing or ask if you wanted me to bring something.
Maybe time to give your friend some cooking lessons. Then they can invite you around.

I think the resentment is why my partner and I stopped buying alcohol, we'd do it almost every time and we were lucky if they brought alcohol once every few months (I don't even drink, so it was just my partner and them).
For the most part I'm happy to provide food, cook, clear up, perfectly happy.
Just I know if someone else did that all for me I'd be offering to help them clear up, even if they declined. I suppose it annoys me that they don't think the same as I would.
I'm not sure how to multiquote but calley, they literally just don't think. Neither of them are callous or !!!!!!!!!!s, just have a complete lack of thought in that area.
I have offered to teach her how to cook but I fear it would end in my kitchen being set alight/smoked out.
Unfortunately they both live with their parents so that's why they always come to ours, which is fine by me as I prefer my own surroundings anyway.
Spent the afternoon moving mattresses. The joys of having another person come to live with us.
I'm going back to gerbil corner for cuddles0
