    DH dear husband

I like shopfloor stuff so taking airy fairy corporate standards and making them understand.

The change to the HSE hasn't been a good one tho

    Thanks Georgie

moo - should have said, not sure if it is H&S, me or the consultancy aspect with all the travelling.

As for bettering yourself....what is your definition of bettering yourself? Really important question to ask yourself I think. If bettering yourself means a career and job that stresses you out and you are constantly stressed and worried - is that truly bettering yourself? Or is it about you and yours being safe and content? There is no right or wrong answer as everyones motivations and needs are different, but it can really help if you know what yours are......

Totally agree - much prefer working with the lads on site or on the shop floor than working with management or above. Unfortunately H&S is generally 90% banging your head against the management wall and 10% doing the real helping people stuff. The up side of doing consultancy is that you get to work with more of the open minded managers, but that is still rare - even when they have paid and called you in.

HSE used to be feared and respected, now they are seen as trying to make money and that respect for their opinion has gone bye bye. Real shame. I know so many HSE staff who have left because of FFI.

The job doesn't stress me out I cope really well with a certain level of stress, it's no sleep for 2.5 years, constant noise (18 hours a day), not being able to leave my property because I'm getting upstairs and his mates suckling their teeth at me etc that the problem

Bettering myself is earning enough for OH and I to have a decent standard of living. Not 3 holidays abroad just if OH wants some vynl or an ovilius unit we can get it. Currently outgoings match incoming and that's with me batch cooking etc.
It's important to me to achieve CMIOSH and whilst I'm consulting right now I want to go back into a multinational at multi site level (not director yuk)

Oooh that's lovely! Bet it looks beautiful on! I'm in love with this one but have no occasion to buy it for and it's a bit OTT for day wear! :o I love anything with a bright tropical print! :D
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

moo - sounds reasonable to me. Nice to know abother H&S lady as a friend, maybe we can pick each others brains and I would be happy to help in any way. We can PM each other about the woes of bad days in H&S!!! lol
I think I want to go environment more in the future, sort of my compromise for my love of science.

What is with the upstairs people then? Are they the cause of the majority of your stress? (sorry I have clearly missed something in the post thread)
