The alphabettie thread (in Moneysavers' Arms) have been waiting for a poster starting with X for over 36 hours. They are so desperate they are thinking of going with anyone with an X in their name, from tomorrow morning.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0

The autistic gardener."
New channel 4 programme. Haven't seen it yet, so I can't judge the programme itself yet. Wondering what people think of how it's being marketed though. Publicity gimmick/voyeurism or genuine attempt to show Aspergers in a positive light?
I'm undecided, but feeling a bit not sure about how it's being sold.
From what I've seen, I think it's being sold in a positive light. That they see the world in a different light, and so will come up with ideas that other gardeners perhaps wouldn't even think of. They'll be willing to take risks that others wouldn't because they've got the vision that others haven't.
I see where you're coming from though, and until it's been on, it's hard to say.0 -
MU, go rescue the alphabettie people! I keep meaning to try and get in on that thread as a W sometime.
Calley, you are entertaining, funny, warm, honest, sympathetic, intelligent and lots of other things! You bring so much to the thread! Don't worry, I have very little in my life either (WaSp and my two friends and all of my friends here, aside). Normally I just get up, do my physio exercises with my carer and then I sit here for the day. I don't even watch tv or listen to music, I sit in silence almost all of the time because noise triggers me. That doesn't make you or I lesser people, though! I am sure there are people who wish that they could have as little to do as I do daily. I would have wished for it once, it just isn't so great when it is out of necessity rather than choice as I am sure that you know.
You honestly have so much to offer, I can see it even if you can't. Big hugs.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
If I knew that the world would end tomorrow, I would still plant apple trees today - Martin Luther King0 -
I wouldn't bother welcoming JennaF, they're leaving odd one-line comments on random threads so I'm sensing a spammer!
Calley, there would be no reason for you to leave at any point! I'm not ill but I still love to read and pop up every so often and don't feel like I'm not allowed!
MU - I've been meaning to ask, how's the health kick going? I have been trying really hard and sticking to it for the main part but my weight loss has stalled now. Sick of my body settling on a comfy weight and refusing to let any more flab go!
Calley please don;t ever feel like you have to leave if you start feeling any better, as everyone else has said this thread is for everyone, whether you have an illness or don't, whether you're in a bad place or a good place, whatever stage of recovery, however you're feeling. I'd miss you if you left! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

hmmmm………….. Confessions……..I don’t like shoes, or dresses, or chocolate or weddings……..I didn’t get those genes……….I got the ones for aeroplanes, surfing, motorbikes, cement mixers and fixing things (………and yeeeeees………before anyone asks……….I am of the female variety) I very much like listening to you all being excited about things though……….
Hugs to everyone who is having or has had a royally poopy day
Here are the giggles from my day to hopefully cheer up those poopy day blues a little:
1) Went round to help my mum today, currently building her a new back path and so I was moving some more slabs from mine to hers. These are the council type paving slabs as in Heavy things. In my infinite wisdom and being a health and safety consultant, I angled grinded (angle ground? Who knows) these giants in two in order to make the manual handling a tad easier and even transported my trusty trolley to hers to manoeuvre them that end. Shame that in my infinite wisdom I did not think to put on the safety boots that reside in the boot of my car for site visits, as the flipperder floppeders on my feet were pretty much f*&king useless when I dropped one of the slabs on my own toe. Oh and FYI – my mum had to sit down as she was crying and coughing from laughing so hard at me.
(As you guys get to know me, you will notice a certain irony in my being a H&S consultant, but hey ho, the blanky fort has already been tested for structural integrity, fire safety, pest control and safe twinkly lighting.)
2) Just went out to check we had room in the freezer before I acquire shopping tomorrow and on the way back, picked up my mobile phone from the counter. I am notorious for absolutely hating my mobile phone (beeping and pinging and making me feel stressed and so have no love for it and regularly turn it on silent, put it down and forget it/ lose it, much to everyones disgust who seem to think it is the height of rudeness for me not to be instantly available at their requirements……..sorry ranting aren’t I………………..stopping myself) Back to story, Hubby had obviously heard the freezer door and looks at me and says “Did you just get your phone out of the freezer?!”
**giggles and shakes head** the fridge maybe, but not he freezer!
Can I bring my star projector into the blanky fort? I think you guys might like it as it projects the entire northern or southern hemisphere of stars all over the room and ceiling and very slowly rotates. Everyone always ends up laying on the floor staring at the ceiling for hours...............
MellyMoo – I shall make a concerted effort to come in and throw biscuits at you tomorrow before the First centre court match starts at 1 to remind you to call docs.0 -

OOOh Flybaby please bring the star projector for the (structurally sound! thank you for checking!) fort! It will be a wonderful addition!
I really want to get some of those stick on glow in the dark stars for my room, but i don;t think my LL would be too impressed:rotfl: however i did see some bedding that had glow in the dark stars on it so maybe i will treat myself to that (yeah..you wouldn't think i'm 28 and nearly 29 would you?
