    Evening all.

Yesterday was a spendy day as expected but I took out £40 for my hairdressers today and resolved not to spend a penny today, so I have rescued my day. Better yet, my hairdresser had to go on maternity leave early due to high blood pressure (that isn't the good bit, bless her heart :() but because the girl who has taken over her clients is more junior, my extortionate, makes me feel a bit ill haircut only cost me £22 :j:j:j and she did a brilliant job!!!! I've had tonnes chopped off and lots of layers put through to make it more summer weight :)

Sorry so many people are having such a rubbish month. Bob, I hope the finances pick up. Messymare... focus on keeping that extra money in the joint account safe and then once hubby has gotten over his panic at not having an income, and he has a steady job sorted, I am sure he will come around to the idea. Just don't let him spend it because it is there ;)

mothernerd I hope they haven't put the price of wartimburtons back up from £1?!?! Thats my fave bread. Although Mr S also do it for £1 now.. :) I don't know why I am bothered. I'm not allowed to eat it *huff* :( lol.

Gremlins have eaten 2 posts of mine. Whatever you do, don't click the hyperlink button on quick reply. It kills everything :(

What else to report? Jellytot is now 5 days and counting without an accident, has gotten over her fear of certain things and is a lot happier and more comfortable as a result! I am a proud mummy bear. She got over her illness very quickly by superheating herself to a frightening level overnight and had burned it all off by morning. My back continues to hate me this week.

Oh and I blew my diet out tonight and I am not even sorry. Was so worth it. I will just get back on it tomorrow, happy in the knowledge that I got what I had been craving and will suffer the consequences of it. Rome wasn't built in a day. And macaroons aren't to be turned down :rotfl:

    Night guys.. xxx

Oh, for my own notes... I am now on 7 SFD's :D xx

Hugs to everyone feeling sad this month.

I think I might be too busy to feel sad this week - work is piling up for both dayjob and j!!!. Plus I couldn't do any job 2 last night, but I did do a huge office tidy. I bagged 47 books to put through webuybooks - turns out the website only wants 8 of them! :rotfl:

...so, what to do with the rest I've sorted...mmm. Amazon marketplace? A lot of effort, but it's in the spirit of Kondo. I could use some of the genre ones for a charity raffle, but now I've decided to get rid of them I don't really want them hanging round.

Proud of OH for shifting his loan and card payments to a cheaper deal tonight. He has promised to put the amount he saves each month to debt overpayment, like me :)

Oh, and the office tidy turned up a bit of something nice... I found a birthday card with £25 gift voucher still inside. It was from a couple of years ago, so I wasn't sure if I could still use it, but the people at the shop's customer service desk at the place seem to think I should be able to - so that's this weekend's shopping sorted as it's Waitrose! :D

Also, a SFD today. Yay! :T

    Today I am grateful for:

  • <hugs> fmess, it's really hard when everything feels in flux, isn't it? I'm feeling slightly the same way - I veer from forgetting I'm leaving, to panicking about handing over, to panicking about starting my new job. Feeling really unsettled and partly just want it over with now. Have also been spending way too much and eating rubbish, just 1 SFD this whole month. Arg.... today is a new day!
Proud to be debt free September 2014. :j

    Good morning!

Up and down like a yo-yo at the moment but feeling fantastic today so sharing my positive vibes with the ones that are feeling low just now :grouphug:

Cycled to work the first time since I was 8 mo pregnant and it was great. Will leave my bike at work now and go for the occasional cycle at lunch as part of my training.

I'm doing budget re-jig number 129 :p. I think my budget is just not realistic especially the food one. £220 for us 4 just doesn't cut it at the moment and I'm constantly overspending and getting depressed about not having enough money for anything. So in July I'm doing two approaches (well and damage control this month), I'll put my food budget up to £300 and will focus on going to Aldi and Lidl only (apart from cat litter). My weekly shops are fine (ca £70 incl HH, nappies etc). But no more Friday drinks/top up shops for me unless it is a special occasion but not just because it's Friday as I'm in training anyway. Hopefully I'll come in under and can then start reducing it sensibly again. Also over the summer I'll reduce my debt payment for the 0% debts slightly so that I can put a bit more into the emergency fund and the holiday fund etc. Got a wake up call yesterday when the freezer started playing up after being defrosted. Really don't want to have to put sth like that on the CC. Also the nursery will be costing more as there is no funding during the holidays and I need to allow for that.

    Today I am grateful for
    • bike sheds at work
    • our 35 year old freezer still working
    • sun shine

Tonight I'll make a massive batch of chilli/bolognese bulked out with veg and lentils.

OH has to go to the states in two weeks time for 6 days, so fun and games with two kids alone. But it'll be fine. This will all paid for by his work so that's good.

    Tada

So I rejigged my budgets and now pay of the wedding debt till March (£100 a month), the CC till February latest (still within 0% time), save £400 emergency money by December not to be touched unless something like the freezer breaks and about £1400 into the MOT, Christmas, holiday and garden fund. The last one seems a lot but if you consider that pays for a service and MOT plus all of christmas, maybe our last big holiday before the kids start school in Germany and some work on the garden it seems ok. Also my grocery budget is now £300 and HH £100. That way I should be able to pay off my debt, save and have money for what we need/want and stay within my budgets better. We'll see how that goes.

    Afternoon everyone.

Apologies for my absence yesterday - think I got distracted. Annoyed with myself because left my lunch yet again in the fridge. I may have to resort to post-its!!!

Not a SFD yesterday (as a result of missed lunch) or today!!! I need to get organised!

Hugs to everyone having a bad month. Thrifty touched on something - damage limitation! Whatever the spend you have had - accept it was necessary (or not) - then don't dwell on it - and do what you do have power over for the rest of the month.

When I get down - I give myself 1/2 hour out (when I remember) to appreciate what I have. Put the kettle on, sit outside in the sun, or by a window... look around at all the things you *do* have - shelter, running hot and cold water, food in the cupboard, a soft bed to sleep in... friends... family... pets... the list can go on. Eventually you will hopefully start to feel less empty and depleted and more full of good tthings...

    :)
