Yesterday was a spendy day for me. I had to do some top-up shopping in preparation for the weekend. Also went out and bought DS2's birthday presents - 3 marble blush angelfish and a new bookcase for his bedroom to house his beloved books and Legos. I was a bit depressed in the morning having just realised how tight July is going to be. I got paid for my new permanent job and I only received basic pay, the enhanced pay for my out of hours shifts won't be paid til next month. Part of me is regretting having given up my locum job due to the significantly reduced pay (one month basic pay is equivalent to my two weeks locum pay). I keep imagining I could fully pay off the Halifax credit card with the extra £2000 but I know I made this decision not only because of the pay but all other factors. I just have to keep reminding myself of that. If after a few weeks, the money side of things is really pulling me down, I can always resign and go back to locuming.
Today, I tried to cheer myself up by getting busy in the kitchen. I made 2 more batches of ice cream coz the hungry hippos scoffed off the three batches I made the other day. There is still enough ingredients to make another batch but I'll leave them for another day. I chopped loads and loads of onions, the house reeks of them. Yesterday I bought a 5-kilo sack of onions for £3 and I sliced and chopped 1/3 of them and bagged into individual portion sizes and placed them in the freezer. I tried this method for the first time in the beginning of May with the purpose of preventing the onions from going off or sprouting. My hubby and I loved having pre-chopped onions in the freezer ready to use when cooking especially after coming from work. It saves a lot of time and effort and none of my onion got wasted. I also cooked taro leaves in coconut milk to take to my friend's house tomorrow for a potluck meal. 2 batches of laundry done and aired and dried and put away. Hubby has assembled the bookcase and is now in DS2's room.
Oh and today was NSD number 18!

Hubert has been practising like a mad thing for the upcoming egg and spoon race.In case you're wondering,he's going to carry the spoon in his mouth.
He only dropped the egg 57 times today,so that's an improvement on yesterday.
Good job we had a few left over from the eighty dozen Igor ordered before!
The Only Girl I am exhausted just reading what you've been doing. Try to keep in mind the other factors about why you changed jobs, I'm sure you thought about it long and hard in the first place so pretty sure you did the right thing.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

You don't have to answer of course!
Prior to Quantum Leap we watched Manimal. Prior to that (if I remember correctly) was Magnum season 1, which was in turn preceded by Rockford Files season 1. Not sure what we watched before that, but I think we had a few weeks of films. In the last couple of years we've also watched the (complete) Porridge, Open All Hours and It Ain't Half Hot Mum - all of which belong to OH, but lived at my house for a few weeks as we worked through them. And The Good Life (mine).
I've recently bought the first 3 seasons of Diagnosis Murder (that's the one I got 1, then 3 and just ordered 2), and have watched Season 1. Waiting on Season 2 to arrive so that I can watch in orderSeason 4 onwards (and the set of films) are only available as region 1 which isn't a problem for me as I have 2 multi-region players, but they never come down to within my budget – especially considering so many ship from the USA meaning there's also a chance of being hit for import and handling fees that would come to over £10 a pop  Father Dowling is another I’d like to get my hands on but am unlikely to because of regions/import – only season 1 was ever released as region 2, so getting seasons 2 and 3 could be expensive
Earlier this week I watched my recently purchased Season 1 of Golden Girls. Now moved onto the complete Men Behaving Badly (I've owned them for years, but series 1 somehow parted company with 2-6 and they've only just been reunited1-3 down, 4-6 to go.) Last week was Vicar of Dibley (another I've owned for a while).
I'm expecting delivery of CSI (Las Vegas) seasons 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7 any time now. I already own season 2 (no idea why I bought that without getting season 1 first!), but I missed out on season 3 at a good price so left that on watch. And today it appeared as back within my budget, so I spent 16 hours monitoring the price until it rock bottom just after 23:30 (at which point I ordered it). It was actually at 30p (plus postage) when I missed out, and I’ve managed to get it for 1p (plus the same postage) from the same seller – so I’m a happy bunny now :T
I've also got the complete set of 'V' to watch, which OH wants to borrow when I'm done with it (another set I've had for a while without watching). In return I'm waiting for him to finish his complete Tales of the Unexpected so I can borrow that. I bought him the complete X-Files a couple of Christmases ago, which he lent me after he’d watched it.
And I need to go back to my complete set of Friends. I watched a few of the DVDs then put it away for so long I had to start again. Didn't get as far through the second time, and it's that long since I'll need to start from scratch for a third time !! I've also recently purchased all 4 Lethal Weapon films in one set - I'm looking forward to sitting down and watching those back to back soonThen I still need to watch films 3 and 4 from the Superman set I bought a couple of months ago...... Oh! And my Ghostbusters double bill that arrived a couple of weeks ago. And my 4 film Robocop set I bought a few years back (when it was on a price glitch) but haven't yet opened.
Not telling on the one I've been watching for a couple of days yet(I don't want to jinx it). It's a (very old) TV series that I already own season 1 of, and I'm currently watching season 2 drop in price - but sooooo slowly it's painful, and my checkout trigger finger's starting to get twitchy even though it's not yet down to my watch price (though the extra would be covered by what I saved on season 1, and the lowest ever price is actually above what I really wanted to pay so I know I’m likely to end up ‘overspending’ on this one). I about to turn in on this one for a second night, and will review the situation in the morning. It's not a set I'm desperate to get at this time, so if I miss out I'm not going to be kicking myself toooo badly
EDIT : Well, I got up this morning to find it had slid another 18p (putting it at a new all time low), and was now around the price I was happy to pay even though still above my ideal price. But I decided I wasn't desperate for it, so I was going to watch and see what happened. Went back to check a half hour later, and the copy from my preferred seller had gone (either someone else bottled and ordered, or the seller pulled it which wouldn't surprise me as they've got it listed at almost twice the price on another site). The other copy had gone back up by over £1, so now I need to wait patiently for another pricing war on it. The set in question is Alfred Hitchcock Presents Season 2. Season 1 was filmed in 1955, and both the sound and picture quality on the DVD are fantastic (and even if some of the episodes are a bit lame by todays standards it still makes for great viewing).Cheryl0 -

Scene : Chateau Nargle, five pm today. Nargleblast, having finished nights this morning then had a massage session for some stubborn aches and pains, then only getting about three hours sleep.....has just arrived from a shopping trip to Ald1, Land of Ice and Tossco, and has commandeered DS to haul the shopping into the kitchen. She marches into the study where OH is poncing about on the compooter.
"Today I have spent nearly a hundred and twenty quid, on top of a hundred and forty on the Sainsbugs delivery yesterday. I do not want to hear anyone moan that there is nothing to eat in the house."
OH replied " All right, keep your drawers on!"
Nargleblast - " Just saying, that's all..."
They have been warned. One life - your life - live it!0
