The Only Girl
What a shame that your celebratory meal was spoiled.....Asthma is no joke, that's for sure. I'm glad everyone's ok.
I think it was you who mentioned being on a lower salary now that you no longer do locum work?It occured to me that surely now you have paid holiday leave?I assume you don't get that with locum work? That's good surely?
I know that the first month's pay in a new job when you don't get your unsocial hours pay til the next month is a blinking nuisance...I hope that July's budget remains 'do-able',and that you remain optimistic.
I see that your DFD is in a few months. Will you have more spare cash from that point to juggle with?
Your sig really is impressive.Don't forget how far you've come and what you've achieved already.0 -
marmiterulesok wrote: »cw18 don't think I've heard of 'Manimals'....CSI seems to be very popular. It's not too gory is it?I must admit that I do have quite a few boxed sets that remain unwatched so far...I don't really have anything on the go right now,as I've recorded so much off the telly lately.CW I used to love Tales of the Unexpected as a kid, although my mum wasn't always too happy with me watching it (I then moved on to Hale & Pace and Spitting Image :rotfl:)I used to love Tales of the Unexpected too kerri. It did seem very grown up.
don't remember watching it in b&w, so suspect I didn't discover it until it had been running for 5 years - and then probably saw most that I've seen as repeats. I would imagine there are a LOT of episodes I won't have seen before, but it's going to be a while before I get my hands on it as OH is 'taking a break' and watching something else now - and he also has TV to distract him
I never liked Hale & Pace or Spitting Images !! OH says he could take or leave the former, but loved the latter.
Back to business....
26th - Friday was a spend day (final D/Debit for the month, DVD boxed set and junk food aka ice-cream)
27th - Saturday was allowable spends only, taking me to #16
28th - today has been allowable spends only, taking me to #17Cheryl0 -
Hi all

Hi,
Have been missing in action as we've been away visiting family. Pleased with 2 NSDs over the weekend, although not one today as had to go shopping to fill a very empty fridge upon return from our travels.
Still hoping to squeeze in my target over the next 2 days,
Just subscribed to the july thread, I'm going to rethink how I judge NSDs based on Marmiteuk's advice on multiple occasions. Need to consider that before popping over to July's thread to declare my July target.
Am now up to date with reading the thread, I'm so impressed with the focus you lot have. Always at the back (sometimes the front) of my mind when my wallet is out.
Thank you

Tales of the Unexpected was unmissable. I remember the one where a woman killed her abusive husband by bashing him over the head with a frozen leg of lamb. She then went out for a couple of hours, came back and phoned the police in a distressed manner. When the cops came round she invited them to stay for dinner (shame to let it go to waste) and out of sympathy they stayed, polishing off the murder weapon with roasties, gravy, mint sauce etc. Roald Dahl was a genius. One life - your life - live it!0

And today, thanks to my trusty Narglehounds, I have captured NSD number 19!!! Let's raise a toast to the Narglehounds! One life - your life - live it!0

Stop whining, Igor, you really should pay attention! I did not say make toast from the Narglehounds....You cannot blame them for biting you, I would bite you if you tried shoving a toasting fork in me...One life - your life - live it!0

I don't remember that one, though the short story is great..
I remember the man whose wife got someone else's pawn ticket by mistake, expected to get a fur coat, and ended up with a sad looking fox fur stole. The mistress got the fur coat.Better than it sounds.
I particularly remember the famous painter, who painted on his friend's back, but as a tattoo.Years later, when the painter is dead and this friend is destitute,he was 'bought' by a rich guy,and was supposed to spend the rest of his days sauntering along the beach in front of rich guy's fancy hotel. The old man was never heard of again, but strangely,a framed picture of the image on his back turned up.Eek!
The story's better than my poor explanation.Hi all
I bagged NSD 12 today and I have no plans to venture out of the house now and hopefully I will get another 1 tomorrow:)
I do hope so,cos that means you'll have reached your second target.0 -

Ah,shucks.Thanks.I don't have TV shows to distract from my DVDs, as I don't have a TV signal
You're not missing much.
Manimals just doesn't ring a bell.Strange, cos I've watched a lot of telly in my younger days, especially when the dreaded sun was out and I would draw the curtains. My mum would shout at me to get outside and enjoy the sun....Nargleblast wrote: »Stop whining, Igor, you really should pay attention! Igor, you've only got yourself to blame.Do the Narglehounds really look like they'd appreciate someone sticking a toasting fork in them?
No,I don't think that Tatty should have a word with them.... :eek:0 -
Hands up if you've had a day like this:
Good night!0
