On Thursday I gave a lady at work a surprise present I made for her daughter, (she's expecting a little boy in November) a super cute pair of boots and a car-seat blanket.
I've reorganised my shifts twice this week to help two of the younger ones at work so they can go on holiday/go to a football match.0 -
Doing well this week so far.
Last Saturday I was the sober one driving the drinkers back from a wedding. (I only drink about once every 10 years, and am available for weddings, parties, christenings etc, lol)
My daughter is back this week from 3 months overseas, so one of my work friends is doing my shift for me so I can surprise her with lunch with the family. She wants a day off in September so I'm returning the favour.
Whilst in work shopping today, one of the girls on the till had a dodgy chair. Between us we swapped the chairs about so she was more comfy.
I've started making another baby blanket for one of the girls at work, who's having a baby in October.
Helped one of my other daughters move house, including lugging a double bed up 2 flights of stairs!!
Lent a pair of work trousers to a new starter as hers haven't arrived yet.
Not been a bad week altogether.
Happy Saturday everyone.0 -
I'm going to visit a friend tomorrow and have cooked spaghetti sauce to take with me as she hates cooking!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0

I stopped to chat to a little boy in his garden, on the way to the paper shop. I bought a small bar of chocolate to give him as I passed on the way back. He wasn't there. It was hot, so I thought I had better eat it myself before it melted.

It's my 40th in December and I asked everyone to donate to Mary's Meals in lieu of pressies.
Not so much nice as just seems right since I've got a home and enough to eat :cool:0 -
Another good week. I've donated to the food bank.
Done another shift for one of the young 'uns at work so they can go to the Reading festival (rain, mud and chemical toilets, best of luck!)
Lent a sander to my friend who's moved house, took it down her house as she was to busy moving to find the time to collect it.0 -
Another friend's hubby is away, and all week she's been plagued by a massive spider. She thought she'd killed it by hitting it with an umbrella when it hid under the wardrobe. It reappeared minus 2 legs so she sprayed it with hairspray. Still not dead!
At 11 tonight she managed to trap it but by now was hysterical and rang me. It's dark, raining and I'm in my pj's but I got in the car, went to her house and killed it for her. Now THAT is what I call a good deed!0 -

Each to their own I know but in my opinion killing a harmless spider is not a good deed27/5/17 Mort 64705 BTs 1904031/12/17 Mort 59815 BT 1673007/04/20 Mort 49208 BT 1572128/07/20 Mort 47387 BT 1263414/11/20 Mort 45905 BT 10134 20/05/21 Mort 42335 BT 686811/08/22 Mort 32050 BT 2915Sealed Pot Challenge 16 Number 50 -
Yes but, as it had by that point, two legs missing and was covered in hairspray it was going to die anyway. I think that is a mercy killing.
(Though I personally prefer to leave them be or relocate them outside..)0 -

Very much an emotive issue re killing spiders against relocating them. I grew up in Australia where some spiders there can actually kill you, so the default option there (in my family anyway) was to get rid of them. I appreciate that 99% of UK spiders are harmless but the terror and hysteria that they induce in some people here does surprise me. That said, I still think making sure my friend and her little boy could feel less stressed and upset (even if it meant driving there at 11pm on a wet rainy night) was a nice thing to do.0
