And I wouldn't WANT you at my house. Nothing more repugnant than a selfish 'entitled to' smoker who doesn't give a FIG about how their stinky vile habit affects others.

By the way, wanting someone to take off their shoes and not wanting someone to SMOKE are two completely different things. It's hilarious that you compare the two!

The smokers are really clutching at straws to justify their foul habit. It's laughable.

PMSL :rotfl: You make it up as you go along don't you?!!

Oh and by the way, to all the smokers who are DESPERATELY trying to make themselves feel better about their foul habit: NO! I DON'T have a car. I don't drive. I walk and cycle everywhere.

Again, must try harder. especially as many of you smokers tend to drive as WELL as smoke! Losing the argument somewhat eh? :rotfl:

You feel the need to follow me around to other threads? How sad.

I think you fail to grasp the basics of this- no one needs to justify anything to you.

'Many if you smokers tend to drive'- millions of people drive. Smokers and not.

You also ofcourse ignore the only bit of housing law which you touched on but you couldn't grasp: ie illegal eviction. But that tends to happen with people like you.

Ah we all need to lighten up, and not be so precious :)

I suppose, like me, you drive a car and all that?

Do you ever feel bad about polluting pedestrians and cyclists with the emissions from your vehicle?

I do, but then again, I don't dictate what people do in my house. But others dictate what they must tolerate outside their own house!
If those are the rules of the household, that is your prerogative. I have nothing against smokers, am myself an X smoker. If people choose to smoke that is fine, but the rules in my house are they go outside. As much as I have a Son to worry about, I have my lovely fresh, smoke free house I can admire. Which is my prerogative in my own house I think.

Yes I drive, but have never driven my car around the living room, and neither can anyone else. I dont want my floor getting tarnished.

I DO dictate what people do in my house, I might just object to someone urinating behind my sofa and if they don't like that I choose to urinate in my toilet, best they dont come at all. The same rule applies to smoking, spitting, fighting, swearing and wiping their feet whilst they are in my house. ;)

If the tenant had lied about smoking, I'd use the S21 notice process after 6 months before, hopefuly, the smoke damage was too ingrained.

How is whether someone smokes any of your business?

The issue is whether they're smoking in the house. I smoke, but not in my house/car.

Neither smell of smoke that OH (non smoker) can smell anyway, although she often says my coat (washed about once a month when worn frequently) does.

I've lived n at least 3 rentals where people smoked in there rooms, not once did a landlord notice or penalise them.

That said there was a previous tenant here who smoked weed constantly and my landlord did notice (as did we) and he had to air the room out for a few weeks, plus repaint it and replace all the furniture.
